Aloha All,

I just changed my tenisoner and serpentine belt last month. Would make a loud squeeling noise when I would go WOT. (My M.M tends to do that alot:cool: ) I took my M.M down to a local FORD dealer. Service was awsome, not only did they change everything under warranty. They told me my alternator bearing was also making some noise and they change that too!!!:D

gmtech, question for you - I posted this in the Garage section but go no replies.

I am about to change my serpentine belt, and to be thorough I want to replace the tensioner and the 2 ider pulleys. Okay, here lies a problem with the 2003 Workshop Manual. On page 303-05-1 it shows on the right the 4 valve engine diagram. Notice that items # 1 and 9 display the same part number, namely 19A216 for both idler pulleys.

On examining the car, I noticed that one of them is GROOVED and the other one is SMOOTH. They cannot be the same part number. How did you resolve this issue?

Congrats on the fix. I too had to have my tensioner replaced, and my car only has 28k on it.

i actually did not change the grooved idler .....only the smooth idler and the tensioner assy was replaced..not sure why they would call them the same part #s...when i looked thru parts departments around here the grooved pulley was not even listed ...the grooved pulley is probably just a dealer item only
