how does the guage bezel under the ash tray come out

Gently wiggle and pull forward. Like just about everything else on this car, it is held in with clips. I think even the motor on this car is held in with those plastic clips!

Two little alligator clips on either side of the bezel, just give it a pull down and towards you. Move the shifter to 1 or 2 to get it out of the way.
