the new rear axle set locks up in reverse when parked on an incline. never heard of such a thing, but back we go. it was quiet after it was fixed though.

Sounds like they may have screwed up putting the parking brakes back together.

they didnt have time to look at it yesterday, so I drove home. today when leaving steak n shake at lunch, it locked up and then violently came apart. I had to have it towed back to the dealer, where it sits this weekend...

the rental is a GMC... ugh, what a disgrace...

but they payed for the tow, and will fix whatever is broken. thats cool.

I was parked at my brother's driveway, which is at a semi steep incline, and released my foot from the brake.

After 2 seconds or so, the car began rolling backwards similar to what a manual transmission whould do in neutral.

Is this normal or is first gear supposed to support the car while on an incline?

Sorry for the silly question but I usually never release my foot off the brakes while on an incline and when I do the car tends to just inch forward.

If the incline is steep enough the car will roll backward at idle.
