Well Mike picked his car up today, the car runs great idles perfect, we had the pipes powder coated black at his request.
So I wanted to go over the kit, tell you about the pluses and the minuses. My goal is to offer an affordable S/C kit. I wanted a kit that can easily be upgraded to make more power with out draining you wallet. I feel we have accomplished this goal, we start off with the Vortech S Trim, you do have the option of satin or polished or the optional E Trim, the E Trim is a low boost sc kit and the cost difference between the S Trim is less than $100.00.

<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>In the past, we have done all our kits in a suck through Maf configuration, I talked to Jerry, and he said I should try the 05 GT Maf in a blow through configuration, so we did. We did this for several reasons, one is you gain better throttle response. Two with a blow through there is no need to run the bypass valve discharge back into inlet of the S/C, you can just vent it off to atmosphere, this helps drop the IAT, since we have no IC.
<o:p></o:p>
<FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Because the 05 GT Maf elements is installed in 3” tube the Maf count pegged at 5500 RPM so we added the Mafia Maf extender, and this solved the issue and still holds the cost of the kit down. With nothing but standard tuning value files and some minor tweaking the car started right up idled perfect, we had the car on the dyno last week, on a 65 degree day and five pulls the car made about 380 RWP.

<o:p></o:p>
<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>[IMG]http://web.iwebcenters.com/reinhartautomotive/images/mnoic1.jpg

<o:p></o:p>
<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>We started the kit out with 03 Cobra 39 lb injectors the 05 GT Maf element, the new GT 500 single fuel pump a colder set of copper plugs a new fan shroud, and cooling reservoir, the 05 GT Maf element is a six wire Maf with a built in IAT so the IAT is in the correct position just before the inlet to the TB. Once we had the car on the dyno and got the AF to the desired 11.5 we data logged spark IAT and most importantly Knock sensor retard. This is one of the big advantages of the Vortech S/C. With gear driven S/C they tend to make a lot of noise and the knock sensor retard table has to be zeroed out because of false knock. We finished with dyno tuning then got the car on the road under actual load and tweaked the knock sensors to do exactly what there supposed to do subtract timing when knock is present and add timing when needed we also adjust, IAT tables to subtract timing as the IAT climbs on hotter days.

<o:p></o:p>
<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>Here is one minus of course the car will make less power when IAT climbs but any S/C does, when you are doing back to back passes depending on how efficient the IC is. Now while data logging the car on the road Jerry noticed very little load on the fuel pump, which means the pump is doing a very good job, so it was decided to remove the 39 LB injectors and we installed the stock 24 lb injectors, we put the car back on the dyno made a few adjustments, and the car required no AF correction and runs fine on 24 lb injectors.
<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>It went back out on the road for more data logging and the car just runs perfect. At 6000 RPM the FP was 58 LBS.

<o:p></o:p>
<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=4>So here is a great basic kit for $3995.00 that can be fully upgraded, in stages to make as much safe power as our air to air kit 450 RWHP plus, the big plus is this kit can be installed in 4 hours or less.

Thanks for your efforts, Dennis. Yet another s/c option for us un-supercharged folks to consider.

Yes it could easily be done

+1 with superford. Thanks Dennis. This is something I would be able to swing in a year or so.

Oh Yeah! With my new job and a little overtime during the summer a S\C crown vic may actually be a possibility. Kit looks great Dennis, simple yet effective.

WOW. HP of 380 & TQ of 360!:banana2:

There are IC kits out there for 50% more that develop 390/360.

Nice job Dennis!

That is plenty of power for most people and a great price and easy install!

As some of you may have seen in other posts, I was there for the first 'Dyno Day' with Michael's car. It was a great experience watching the dyno numbers climb and climb bit by bit as Dennis safely tuned the car. Later, throughout the weekend I followed Dennis around as he datalogged and at a few points I couldn't keep up!

100 HP and TQ gain on a safe, simple easy-to-install kit is awesome.

There is no reason any reasonably intuitive person couldn't do this kit. The hardest part would be the fuel pump, but Juno did a full write up with pics in a thread here sometime back. The rest is literally bolt-on and plug-in.

Dennis really poured himself into this one and it shows!!!!

Good work Dennis

so is the motor itself stock? and how much can a stock bottom end take

The motor is stock.

I have noticed ~450RWHP works for most MM. I have also noticed a number of failures for those over 450RWHP.

Look at my sig as proof.

Exactly what Billy said

Congratulations, Dennis, that's a super looking kit, at a very attractive price.

I assume there's an application for this kit on a 4.6 in a Crown Vic/GM, and more specifically, in a 4.6, like the one in my '02 F-150 4x4 with 5sp stick.

Would the clutch hold that much power? I think those are iron blocks and steel cranks/forged rods in the trucks, right?

This could solve my replacement issue, when the time comes.

Auto train to FL, visit a few days, take home a super truck.:woohoo:
