I've got a 2003 MM with 10,500 KM that has developed a recurring electrical short. Everytime I put the car in reverse it blows the fuse for the climate controls, power steering and air ride. Although I haven't been able to take the car into a dealer yet to check out this problem, my initial impression is that the car may need a new digital transmission range sensor (DTR). Has anyone else encountered this exact problem?

That's your problem right there, if you stopped going in reverse the problem wouldn't be there anymore. Is it too late to switch to being a Mechanic verses Detailer?

Although I haven't encountered that problem, try this to determine if the issue is related to the range sensor. With the key on and the engine off, parking brake set firmly and doors closed, move the shift lever to reverse and on slowly to drive and back to park. I'm pretty sure the early builds had a wire chafing issue. This won't allow the engine to rock when put into reverse. Although it doesn't verify anything if it still blows, if it doesn't blow you may be experiencing the chafing issue.

J

P.S. Jason, stick with being the best detailer in IL!:D

With that sort of diagnostic skill you should set your sights on being an MD :D
