Got my HIDs from China today. Will try to install this weekend. Simple plug-n-play installation, need to find a place to mount the ballasts. These are supposed to give me hi & low beams. Got the 6000k temperature, should match the turn signal and maker light LEDS. If these work out I'll be doing the fog lights next.

If things work out as described, you may want to post up the Seller's name ;)

If I remember to, I'll take some pics of the install. The instructions make it look easy. Just have to find a place to mount the ballasts. They are kind of big, there isn't a really long lead on it and they have to be kept relatively cool as they shutdown at 105 degrees. We'll see.

Will do as soon as I get them installed and verify that's it a good kit. Maybe I can get a group buy going.

Man I hoped I would start the HID trend but my installer here in town has seemed to have been giving me the run around because during tax season hes always busy with so many people buying stuff. But hes charging me about what you paid for those but he said he could do a group buy if mine worked out ok. Im his guinea pig.

Tonight at the NY auto show I bought a set of HID's with the seperate high beam and German ballasts, He even threw in a free set of H1 pure white bulbs for my fog lamps. All for $225 and no tax.
From my experience, German ballasts and Korean bulbs are the best. Followed by Japan. The Chinese made HID's are known to have ballasts short out due to bumpy roads and long extended use (3 hour drives)
I hope you have good luck with your set.

My kit Comes with 2 ballasts. The last time I did a HID install without the halogen high beam, My high beam light wouldnt turn off on the dash and my fog lamps wouldnt turn on.
These are 8K (blue) and yes I have his card and he said If I should have any issues up to a full year, he'll send me whatever parts I need.

Hey, I want some credit... Even though mine aren't installed plenty of interest stirred over my thread with all the pics...

Funny enough I planned this weekend to tackle many things on the vehicle and one of the things on my list was the HID light kit install...

FYI on Monday everyone will get an installment of project "Marauder" and using pics a step by step walk through (or as least as best as I can do...."
LOL

aesome to see the HID catching on though....
I haven't gone to FOG (HIDS) yet though Im dooing on step at a time...

FYI:
This kit Uses low beams as HIDs... your highs are still standard high power lighting. but this will allow you to keep you "flash to pass" feature" since HIDS need to warm up... HIDS high beams disallow this....

even the 2006 Aviator I have doesn't have HID high's but has HID lows.... and its for this reason... and ford cutting some cost im sure lol....

I'm not sure with your kits, but I had to modify my headlight housing's and "waterproof" them. Since, there WILL be wires (2) coming off the bulbs themselves, hence you will not be able to screw the cap behind the headlight's closed. I simply drilled a small enough hole to pull the wires through, and found a gromit to seal it off and just used a small bead of silicone to seal it off for extra protection.

May be you got something miswired? My high and low beams works normally. My fog lights comes on as normal with low beam. My high beam indicator on the dash comes on only with high beam on. The only thing different I did was to wire the low beam to stay on when I put high beam on. I can flash to pass with no problems, the 4 Xenon bulbs fire instantly and simultaneously like flash bulbs and very hard not to notice them. They're so much brighter than the brightest halogen bulbs which draws more power. I definitely don't miss the old factory halogen set up. HIDs rocks!

No, I have 4 ballasts and 2 bulbs but each bulb has 2 xenon elements, one for high and the other for low. No modification to the headlight housing needed.

Thats the difference, Its all plug and play so its impossible to wire it up wrong. I have installed HIDs in over 20 cars and they all had seperate high beams, its only typical that my own car would have the issue.

There are no specific brands, its only where they are built. Each country have their own ballast and bulb design.

I went to the auto show today to get these bi-xenon lights you had picked up. I didnt see the vendor you had mentioned. All i saw were several booths for rims and waxes, lol. :shake:

The vendor was upstairs next to the guy selling Mops. He had a little table and had the kits stacked up. If you didnt look closely at what he was selling you would walk right by him.
So far so good with the kit, I also installed the same kit into my fathers truck and he loves them.

It was a German 8K kit with seperate halogen bulbs for high beams. My fathers had two prongs that had to be slid into the oem plug that goes into the back of the bulb. The rest was all plug and play. Total install time was a half hour.

I really like our color with the HID's...
I haven't gotten my vehicle on the road yet since Im rebuilding motor but once I do I think I may need to put in the HID fogs too... (like u did)

1. Did you find the color difference annoying? (I think I may)

2. Did you have any trouble matching the (6500K) color of low beams....?
Im not familiar with HID fogs... do they make them in various colors..? how about 6500K? It is important to me they match if they both are gonna be HID...

3. Were the HID fogs just as easy to install?

Loco...it doesn't matter who made the bulbs. If they say 8k, they're going to be the same color. If they say 6500k, it's going to be the same. If you want HID fog's, just find an H1 kit and ask for the same color as your headlights and you'll be all set. Look at my lights, two, completely different brands, and the bulbs are exactly the same. And as for the fog's, they were easy, but you have to modify the housing to get them in. So far, I believe just me and member Marauder have HID fog's. Thanks to him, I followed his advice and it worked perfectly for me. If you need some help installing them, I would gladly try to give a detailed description on how to go about installing them. ldawg, my headlight kit is made by a company called Sanhua, and my fog's are called Xenon. HID's are made in all different colors. I believe the lowest is 4500k, and the highest is 13 or 15k. 6500k and under is usually a bright white, 8k-10k is a blue color, like mine. And anything higher than 10k is a horrendous purple-ish color that is un-bearable to look at.

ya Im interested to hear about the fog light housing mod aswell...
it will help me decide how soon the fog light HIDs will be coming,......

Raudermaster
04-20-2007, 10:43 AM
Yea, they won't tell you how to modify it lol. Well, you want to take the whole fog light housing out so you can work on it. Un-screw the case so the glass/plastic piece is dis-connected from the part where the bulb goes. Now, you want to take the OLD H1 halogen bulb, and pull the actual bulb out of the black piece that locks into the casing. Take a hacksaw blade, and CUT the 90* bend clear off. A.K.A the piece that plugs into the wiring harness. ONLY cut that piece off so you'll pretty much just have the locking piece of the bulb left. You'll want to get a Dremel and make the hole a bit bigger so you can slide the HID H1 bulb through the locking black piece. Make sure you don't make the hole HUGE otherwise you'll be better off getting a new piece, or you'll have to use a bunch of silicone to plug up the hole. The way I got my bulb secure, I used "Marauder"'s method by using silicone to make the bulb snug into the black locking piece. Yes, I know it will be a b!tch to remove if the bulb dies, so if you have another method, by all means try it. All you gotta do is just load the back of the bulb up with silicone and make sure it's straight in the housing. Let it dry, try to move it, if it doesn't you succeeded. If so, put more silicone on it and let it dry. Assemble the glass housing back to the backside and re-install. Now all you gotta do is figure out where to mount your ballasts lol. I know it's hard without pictures, and I'm sorry I didn't take any, but once you have it apart, it makes sense. Because when I read Marauder's directions I was lost too, but it's actually quite simple. Good luck!
