255's. 265's are questionable. Anything larger will need widened rims.

All the work has been done for you. Search on "tire matrix".

I think one of our member in Utah or Colorado is running a 285 on the stock rim. I thought "common knowledge" says that does not work.

jeremy

edit #1 found him, it is Nitrous SSC (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=4340)

edit #2 I run a 255 in the winter

From my computers at work, we can run 295/35-18 on stock wheels without any suspension changes either

Well, I WAS going to get 265's until I heard they are "questionable." And, I'm not going to drop $300 on two tires just to find out they're not going to fit. So, unless someone pipes up and tells me 265's are OK, I'm sticking with 255's for now.

You can actually mount/'fit' P295/45s on a stock 8" wide rim, BUT it is not recommended, nor is it that safe.
The sidewalls of the wide tire are forced to 'pinch in' to the too narrow rim's lip.
Like others posted: P255/45s on a stock 8" wide rim.

According to tirerack, 285-50-18 would be OK on stock 18". I'm running those in Pirelli Scorpion form without problem. Nitrous SSC from Utah, i believe, run the same size also but with another brand.

Jon, you should have said, on a REALLY widened rim lol. Superford, 275/30/18? Doesn't your car sit a bit lower/unbalanced and the speedo is off?

I ran the Nitto DR for 15K on the street and 50 runs down the track w/ no problem.

However you must drive your car accordingly. Most people do not have the discipline for the street. I best describe them as being a set of jellyroll donuts.

It is fine for the track and driving to from the track. I drove to Atlanta and back for SSHS5 & 6.

I just replaced nittos 555s fronts were 245.45 18 stock, rear was 295,45.18 stock.
after 30k miles I had worn the shoulders off the fronts, and the middles out of the rears, but I still had about 4 to 5 k left. I went with the 295 in the rear again, and widened up the front to a 255 45 on the front. The 295 is a snug fit but works fine.

Still running 285/50/18's.

Love em!! They look good, contact patch is great, and they handle awesome auto-xing with 42-45psi in the rear 47ish psi in the front. They don't roll at all.
