I received this message from James this moring. I wished him my best and that I would keep him in my prayers to stay safe and I also told him that we are all proud of him at MM.net.

Good luck Airman and God bless. :flag:

I'm sending out a mass e-mail because it's that much easier to get a handle on giving everyone the news. No one except for family is really finding out before anyone else but here's the scoop.

Sometime, probably early/mid May, I will TDY (temporary duty assignment) to the United States for specialized training for either convoy operations or detention center operations (I don't know the technical names.) I will be stateside upwards of 2 months and after that I will TDY to Kuwait for 1 month for further training. After my time in Kuwait is finished I'm moving to Camp Bucca <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Bucca> (click link for more info), an Army prison detention center in Umm Qasr, Iraq. I will NOT be home to visit before I leave.

So yes, I'm going to the place of places. The good news is that only 5 of 30,000 in my career field have died in combat in Iraq. Safe? No not exactly, but at least for us it's a lot different than being in the Army. I'll be WAY south of the real battle zone in Baghdad so at least that's a plus. I'll be right around the Iraq/Kuwait border.

I don't know what more to say, but I am in good spirits and I figured this was the best way to let everyone at home know. If you want to talk we can chat through e-mail of course for the next couple of months, if you have any more questions shoot me an e-mail.

Sincerely with all my love,

Airman James Grueser.

...and...

Yes please post this on MM.net and let them know I'll be able to afford one tight ass MM when I get back! Although I can't get those in Germany, I'll probably get a BMW.

Tell everyone I love and miss all of MM.net.

-James

May the other kids in the giant sandbox play nice and if not, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits.

Always listen to your Spidey Sense and know that were all behind ya!

Thanx for passing this thru.

Thanks for your duty. Take care of yourself, and use caution! I'm sure they'll be a very nicely equipped MM waiting for your return. ;)

Woaface-

1st. Thank you for your service.

2nd. Like others have said, even though you are not on the front lines, the enemy will be all around you...KEEP YOUR RADAR UP

3rd. Get home safe.

No matter what the media says, you are doing an honorable thing. It is very much appreciated by the silent masses.......:flag:

James, Semper Fi. Serve with pride. We are proud of you here. Brig duty may not be as dangerous but it is the hardest of all. Everyone is watching and way to many are hoping to catch a F'up. Be as careful inside as you are outside. Remember who you are and what your values are and you will be fine. Keep us posted, please. Dennis:2thumbs:

Thanks Gordon.

I didn't know that James was stationed at Ramstein AB. I go there at least once or twice a month. I definately will have to look him up and buy him dinner. James if you read this PM me. Thanks.

PS I am on one of the MS C-17 on the ramp.

I think that he just finished up school and got orders to Ramstein AB back in mid-February. Now it looks like the USAF is sending him back for some TDY training before sending him to the sandbox.

Thanks Gordon for posting up this info.

James, it sounds like you are doing very well and adjusting to the needs of the military. :flag: I know you'll do well in your training (again). Hope that you will be able to get a couple days for your family or friends to visit you before you head out on deployment.

Stay Safe .... or as Haggis/Gordon might recall "Stay Alert - Stay Alive" slogan from bye gone days.

Looking forward to your homecoming with a new Marauder waiting for you.

Thanks for all the support guys. I had to get a new screen name but that's another story.

Here are the deal, I leave May30th to Mississippi for 2 months-ish, then to Kuwait for a month then Iraq for 6. It should be a bit of fun!

Keep your head on a swivel, James. There are no front lines anymore. Everyplace is dangerous.

I remember meeting you in Indy for MVII. Skinny, smartassed little Fart...I guess you grew up. I'm proud to know you and proud of the job you do. Stay safe.

If its any consolation to the magnum I've been thinking of getting a trilogy MM when I get back from Iraq. I'll get some time home and I won't pay taxes for 6 months or spend almost any money while I'm there because I have no bills so I'll have good bank. Money for a car and a house is what I'm after.

Yeeeahhhhh. Trilogy here I come.

Hi James, good to see you check in.

Yes you could have just rented a Taurus for MV 2 but noooo....

That's the way. Save your money and spend it wisely.

Work on buying a house wherever you are posted. Don't sell them, rent them to the next Airman posted in.
