When talking to a mechanic and they say it's your left rear would that mean drivers side or passenger ? I never understood if that ment looking at the car from the front or looking at the car from the rear.

It depends on if your car is upside down or not.

When they say left or right it would be right or left from the drivers seat.

left rear = Driver's rear

Normally, LH and RH are used to denote which side
LH = driver's side
RH = passenger side
