Well, after 3 years of constant highway miles to work (350 miles/wk), including winter, I've "parked" my MM to preserve it. It will still be a weekend warrior for me, but I'm glad to get it off the road w/ 47K miles on it and with no idiots having slammed into it. It has been highly reliable (no shock to this crowd), and a blast to drive!! Mine is bone stock.

A Chrysler 300C hemi has taken over "work duties" admirably.

Look forward to cleaning it up better, showing it, and still some more track time...as it saw track action too.

...Got to admit, these hemi 300s are pretty sweet...but that's a different site...

Good for you. You don't want it to end up like this:

:bigcry: :bigcry: I hate to see the end of a MM, especially one of the Florida HP units. As a cop, I know how attached you can get to your squad, especially a MM. BTW, who are the cops in the green, the cucumber police ?:cuke:

I bought my Daytona as a road car, since my GF thinks it has the most comfortable seats she's ever sat in. Which is fine, because after spending 2 years looking for the MM I wanted, I'm perfectly content to keep it pristine as a weekend warrior.

Sad loss of a MM.

Don't try that in a 300c though.

Probably St. Johns County Sheriff's deputies.

Most FL Sheriffs wear neat forest green uniforms...it varies a little county to county.

We're mostly brown here in Illinois (County Sheriff's), but not Cucumber green. YUK !!:puke:

They made big 4 door sedans to be driven brutha'! At least that's my take on things. I already have other cars squirreled away to keep them out of the weather, the Marauder I will just keep driving until I get tired of it or something major falls off.

I think the Sheriff's departments in FL use dark green. I bought a police Harley that was in service with the West Palm Beach SO, and it was forest green and pearl off-white. It was a very striking bike. I don't like the green uniforms, though.

I hope to park mine soon too. Just over 50,000 clean miles and would like to preserve the car. Looking at some high mile cars to just use to get back and forth to work. I NEVER want to sell this car. It is the most comfortable car for any length of trip.

when i get my black marauder, i'm going to drive it everyday! Whenever something breaks- i'll fix it. I'll maintain it well- but will never hesitate to drive any distance ;)

my '66 mustang with its sweet 347ci, 5-speed, and 3.89 gears is going to be my weekend canyon runner.

There you go Bill. I would have a hard time "collecting" a 4 door sedan. The 2 doors are impractical and currently don't have AC. Those I can let sit and gather dust in a garage. 4 doors have 4 doors because they are supposed to haul people!

mine has 91k and I'd take it anywhere, it will be pushing 500k when it gets parked if I get my way.

however if the opportunity ever presents itself, I would stash away a clean low mileage Marauder for the future, I can remember when a 71 cuda was cheap, and 67 mustangs were almost free...

if I still had my 71 Torino GT with the 429, or the 71 Ranchero with the 351c 4v, or the 67 mustang with the 390/4-sp, or the 69 cutlass with the 455, or the 54 dodge royal with the red ram hemi in it, the 51 frazer hardtop and convertible, or the 54 kaiser with paxton supercharger, or ...the list goes on. I think it is worth it to keep one stashed away.

what about one with 1500 miles?

Believe me, I love my MM, that's why I'm preserving it now. I too believe these are helluva a machine, under appreciated currently, but clearly the last of high performance sedans from Mercury. It still won't be a carshow only baby, I like to drive too much for that, but atleast I'll keep a ton of useless miles off it and generally, out of harms way...except for my right foot!
