I have the Ford factory spoiler, and it was installed by my dealership before I picked my MM up. I have had the car for about 5 weeks, but just noticed something. I was washing it today, and as I was washing the trunk lid, I saw that there is a gap between the spoiler and the trunk lid right in the middle. The gap is about a third of an inch at it's widest point in the middle, and disappears as you move toward the ends. Does anyone else have this gap, is it supposed to be there? I assume that the spoiler is held on with some kind of adhesive, and if that is the case, mine is only held to the car on the ends. It's as if the spoiler is too curved to fit flush with the (almost) straight line of the trunk lid. :help:

I just checked mine and there is no gap, it's flush all the way across (self-installed.) There is sticky tape that adheres to the trunk but there are also 4 bolts. If you look at the underside of the trunk lid there should be 4 additional holes drilled for the bolts. The spoiler comes with templates for drilling the holes in the right locations. The spoiler also comes with black caps to go over the holes, but they don't fit.
Make sure they installed the right one. If it's the right one and you don't see any bolts, I'd bring it back and tell them to make it right!

It sounds like they didn't install the two middle bolts, or didn't tighten them properly...or the 3M double-stick weather-tape is missing...there definitely should NOT be a gap...

Here's a bit of an update...after reading the replies, I went outside to look for the 4 bolts. To my surprise, the gap was gone! Apparently, as the car sat in the hot sun (it got up to 88 degrees here today) the spoiler expanded/warped. When I just went out to look again (9:00pm, 75 degrees), everything is back to normal. This is the first really warm weather we have had since I bought her home. This must be why I never noticed it before. BUT, there are still only 2 bolts holding it on to the trunk lid...on the two ends. It still has to be corrected, I can't leave it like it was today. I guess I have a call to make tomorrow.

My one rant for the day: You just can't buy good service anymore. Everyone always wants to take the shortcut.
(i.e. only the two outside bolts were installed)
