Axles Purchased..........now, what do you guys think..

I am picking up the kit tomorrow and soon to install them. YES! im doing it myself. Ok, seeing that ive read about possible metal contamination in the rear end......

Would it be a good idea to clean out the housing? Flush?

If so, what would be the best fluid/cleaner/etc to do this with.

Buy a case of brake clean.

Remember to clean out the tubes also.

+1 on the CRC Brakleen. It's supposed to leave no residue. The guy that installed my 4.10 gears sprayed about 3 cans all over the inside of the rear end housing. We used rags to soak up the excess.

I'd pull a GOOD magnet through the tubes as well then force a rag through and repeat a couple of times!!!:beer:

It amazes me that all the metal in my 2000 CV didn't hurt the gears or inner bearings.....It is still going strong with another 80K miles or so on it!!:bows: It actually had hand fulls of metal flakes in it??:confused: :cool:

I guess the hardened gears can stand it but I SURE didn't like it!!:shake:
