Just got back from Sebring this weekend. These cars are not the best roadcourse vehicles, but you can impress and surprise a lot of folks in the big 4 door!!!
Hi Ho;
I recently participated in an open road run from Austin to Marble Falls and back in moderate traffic going and no traffic comming back at speeds that were near the computer limit. The big car handled well, the driver (me) was white knucked, the wife, well she passed out early on. It was apparant that brakes were an item to be upgraded. Power was OK, but my skill sucked.
There were three other Marauders that I think stayed with the pack, a least I never saw them again.
Loads of fun.

Just back from the Annual SVTOA Sebring Sensation. I am truely amazed at how few of our fellow Marauderers are taking advantage of this opportunity to RACE during a world class high performance driving school at a world class 3.7 mile track. The cost is bargain priced, the guys AND gals are great. You think kicking the snot out of a ricer wanna be is fun? Come to Sebring and run down Mustangs. I am not the fastest Marauder by a long shot, however; I can tell you how much fun it was to run down and pass both of the Shelby GT500's in my class. They were the frosting on the cake made of GT's and some cobra meat. This snit is fun. Our cars will go around corners. Over a beer I will tell you about my instructor's "hey, 130MPH" and my glance at the tach which was at 6600 RPM's:eek:. I run with OD off to avoid the 4-2 shift and I have 4.10's. Got to do something about that. After the second beer I will tell you about some farming I did in the spinach patch off of turn 16 where it got a little wrong.  Clean living got me some red dirt everywhere but no damage. WE also discovered that GOD has two houses at Sebring, one at Sunset and one at turn one, huh, Marc?:D :D I can't believe saving turn one. I would have said, no way. :2thumbs: . There is a down side. A couple of banged up cars. some mechanical problems, one total wreck and one shunt where two cars got tangled and one weinie roast. Clean living allowed me to be uninvolved with that stuff  and allowed me to win one of the raffle prizes..50% rebate of registration fee. Great hanging with Marc, Rich and Michelle, Juno AND Bobby Clobber and his wife Helen..Thanks for the second Schooner transfusion, again..you are a wild man.
Sorry for the long post. Wish I was as witty and smart as Dan W. when I get wound up, bet you do too.
ANYWAY...there is no charge to show up and WATCH. Great facility. Beautiful cars, from a Lambo to SVT Focus(one yellow one, instructor owned; will make you rething the Focii. Corvette, BMW, Lightnings, Steeda, Roushe, AC Cobras, all out race cars and drives. EVERYONE loves their car. Come on out next year and watch SHAKES_26. Marc will make you proud you own a Marauder and that he is a friend. Film at 11. Dennis
PS..feel good highlight, The nice guy in the next pit with a gorgeous 07 Black Mustang GT who I had been passing all weekend but waved by in my last session as I was cooling down back to the pits(big time brake fade) said,"Thanks to you I can tell my son and my dad that I passed a MARAUDER on the track." :)
Dennis was amazing out there. A lot of group 1 stangs will wake up sweating with the image of that big DTR filling the rearview!
Marc moved up to a group to terrorize a new set of victims. He got compliments on his driving all weekend.
It was great having the Maruaders running and all Rich and Michelle and Bobby and his beautiful bride to support us.
Don't miss this opportunity again folks!! Words can't describe it!
Always a pleasure to have you guys out.
Some pictures on a Mustang board, you guys are in there.

This event is what it is because Ed Zerbe and a few other very dedicated guys spend an incredible amount of time and energy making it happen. It is the most organized and professional high performance driving school you can imagine. thanks Ed, I am grateful and so are all the other participants. :bows: Dennis

Greek, in no way ment to imply that a MM will outrun a Shelby when both drivers are of equal experience and commitment. I to doubt that. However, this school is set up using 5 classes based on experience and ability; 5 being the instructors and 1 being the novi. We train with the others in our class. They and I were in class one. My only experience is Sebring but it was my second time as I attended last year. This may have been their first or the were being very careful of their new and very expensive iron. Also note that I am not bragging, that is not my nature or the point as I was enjoying what is possible with our cars. they are way more capable that we think. They will do a lot more than accept a large amount of polish, accumulate nice time slips, amaze little old ladies and men at shows and eat massive amounts of mod money. They are a ball on a big fast road track and will carry massive amounts of speed thru the corners when the line is right. There is nothing like stepping on the Trilogy on the track out toward the next corner. Dennis:)

Understood now, thanks.
The draw for HPDE (High Performance Drivers Education) events is that it allows everyone to stay within their comfort zone. Some folks like to run at their, and their machines limits, while others prefer just to experience the thrill of driving on a world class race track. We have folks that have been all five years we have been doing this and they prefer the novice class, and an instructor. Class, from novice to advanced is not based on speed, while that is a small factor, the real difference between the classes is the experience level. Fast novices are going faster than the slower advanced drivers, if that makes sense. The advanced drivers however set up the point by passing very well, both passing and being passed, they are “on line” and their actions are very predictable to the other drivers. My criteria for advancing someone in class has nothing to do with speed, it is their “track awareness” being on line, their point by skills, and their decision to want to go up that advances their class. Hope that helps for folks that are thinking about coming out to an event near them.

HEY! Mine's in there! Must have been the guy's drooling over my Snow Performance meth system... with the custom tank.
Yes, what Ed said. :D
I hope we did not give the impression that this is some kind of wild shootout.
It is a VERY controlled environment with the emphasis on Safety first, Safety second, Safety Third, and BTW have fun out there.
Nothing will get you off the track faster then an unsafe act. Get too aggressive, miss a flag signal, piss off Hutch :D and you will be sitting for a bit while they make it very clear what you did wrong.
The people are great and obviously those 3500 lb Mustangs can run circles around us, but it is kind of cool when you see a big 4 door that is hitting the lines and roaring down the straights. You expect the ponies to fly around there but it is pretty impressive to see how well the MM's can get around.
There is so much going on and everything happens so fast that it takes seat time to build your awareness. I know that I am driving significantly faster then last year (which is easy to do :D ) and I am improving my awareness, but I still have a long way to go. At least now I see all the flags and know what they mean, but I have to pick them up a little sooner so I can acknowledge them before I am too busy in my turn.
Don't miss the next opportunity to make this event!!!
Thanks again Ed, for all the hard work!
