I was curious what trans mods are people doing now.Mine has 27,000 on it and I was going to do a complete drain and refill w/fresh Mercon V.I figured now was the time to do a control body mod.In the past I've done the J-mod and that worked just fine.I didn't know if there were any other new developments on this or not. Thanks for your input.

Stop by some weekend and help me with the J-Mod. There might be a cold beer in it for you.

For those who don't know, a little background:
Jerry Wroblewski (the "J" in J-mod) was a transmission design engineer at Ford, and helped develop the AODE/4R70W. This is one of the reasons the J-mod (he hates that term, BTW :) ) is so superior to the "shift kits" available from B&M, TransGo, etc. There are few people who know more about this transmission than he does.
I recall reading somewhere that Jerry said many of the features of the J-Mod were incorporated into later versions of the 4R70W, so doing that procedure on a newer unit may not have as dramatic an effect as it did on the older ones.
