View Full Version : Reinhart chip switch positions?

My Reinhart chip came with a 3 position switch. I assume center has the chip off. If the left and right positions are for 91 and 93 octane, how do I know which is which? I did not order a dual octane unit as we don't have 93 octane in San Bernardino county.

My chip has a 2nd connector on it that is 3 pins. What is it for? A light? I did not get one.

Good pic in one of the mentioned threads. My cable is long enough to reach the console storage box. May install the switch there.

I unhooked the switch and wire from my chip...too confusing and who wants to turn it off anyway!

Center=power program.
Toward notch=2nd program (my case a valet)
Opposite side=Off or factory

I was never informed what the other plug in was for. If someone knows....tell us.

Cruztaker is correct regarding teh switch psoitions. The "other" slot (if you have the right set up) is for an LED pilot light which shows red (for valet or 2d program), Green for power mode and off for well, um, off.

I use the light. I likey.

According to Dennis, if you didn't order a dual-program chip, the switch does nothing. They are supplied with the blank chips, so Dennis just throws them in with your order. If you ever have him re-flash the chip for a second program, then you already have the switch...

So let me get this straight (I read this on the other thread) with Dennis dual chip you can switch back to factory and the dealer will not notice for service? Man that is fantastic.....

SOLD!!!!!

It would be better, in a just in case senario, to remove the chip, and then disconnect the battery for 10-15 min. As a raving parinoid, thats what I would do.

Well, not exactly...the second position is more for availability of proper fuel...Dennis's chips are by default programmed for 93 octane (although he can program for any reasonable number you want)...if you can't get 93 for some reason, the switch allows you to use the stock programming for lower octane. If the dealer wants to check for a chip, they're going to physically look at your ECM; if the chip's there, you're busted...
