Jeezus!...1st the water pump, ok no biggie. Axles tomorrow. I get in to go to breakfast and the radio lights arent working. Unit plays and works but no lights.

Also the temp control: same thing. No display. I can hear the AC clutch kicking in, no fan control.

Drive it, they all come back on and work for 5 minutes, then off again.

Any idea where to start looking? I sure as hell dont want to be replacing things so early (63k miles)

Any/All help appreciated as usual.........ASAP! Its HOT here and I gotsta have my AC

As I mentioned, the radio/CD does work, its the lights that arent working.
The temp control unit is inop. I can hear and see the ac clutch kicking in and out. On killjoys answer, I checked the fuses and they are ok.

Is the temp control and radio somehow linked? It would seem doubtful. I even disconnected the battery to reset the puters, no change.

HELP!!!!! :censor::help::bigcry::down:

Ok, got back in.....sweating my nads off. The lights are all on now, go figure.

Temp control: Lights on, the display shows all functions as each button is pressed. No AC and no fan blowing. When vent is pressed, I can feel the air coming thru the vents but not forced under blower.

Question for those of you that have had AC head unit replaced: How do you take it out? I read here somewhere, a GM/CV unit without ATC will work and costs less ( I could care less about the ATC ) Does anyone here have one?

Thanks

Don

Do you have an XCal2?

If so, see if there are any Codes.

If not, go to your local FLAPS and see if they can read a code.

Have you tried replacing the Headlight switch ?
The Rheostat controls dash brightness.
The headlight switch swaps the connection to and from the Rheostat
when the headlights lights are turned on and off.
This controls your dash, radio and HVAC lights.

You will get a new Rheosat as part of the headlight switch.

Ok now im baffled yet satisfied. All the lights have come back on, after I reset the computer again. Did some driveway diagnostics. When I enabled the AC clutch, I see it spinning and after a few minutes, I felt the AC lines and they are really cold. So no blower. Checked the relay and fuse, all good.

Then I got a small tack hammer and gave the blower motor a light tap and it started to work. I had a similar problem with one of the window motors as well. I had someone work the switch and I lightly tugged on the glass and it has worked ever since.

So.........On to the axle swap tomorrow!

Thanks to all!

In that case...maybe you should just lightly tap them?
