I can't get it in the tank.

I pulled into the gas station after my OOP inspection (passed) and I take the gas cap off, which is a strange design. I wedge the nozzle into the fuel port, the rubber cuff doesn't fit very well and the gas cap gets in the way. I shove it in as far as possible and I squeeze the nozzle.

It starts normally then clicks off. I try it again same thing. I tried seven or eight times same thing. I found I could get gas to go in only if I barely squeezed the nozzle grip thing and stood there for about 10 minutes. Now I never used that pump before, Subaru gas cap is on the other side, so I don't know if it was just that pump.

Is this normal?

My Friend with the Towncar says that he has the same problem, at a different gas station and that he gets around it by only putting the nozzle in half way.

I didn't have a chance to try this yet.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

I second the don't burry the nozzle into the fill hose. Some gas pump heads are more sensitive than others...

Ditto to above
I do not think the tank vent in filler neck is large enough to let air out quicker for the quicker gas pumps. When getting gas I also do not put gas nozzle in all the way.

+3 for the backing out the nozzle a bit. The operator may need to go in for retraining too. ;) I rarely have this problem because most of the pumps in Northern Virginia are fairly low flow pumps that take about 10 seconds per gallon (i.e. 6 GPM). Of course, I have encountered those rare pumps that seem to have their "trip point" shut off set extremely low. Let the station know about the problem.

Texas has a lot of "clean air" nozzles, is that the kind you guys have? Rubber collars that go nearly all the way down the nozzle, that FORCE you to force it in with all your might?
These things are built by design NOT to let air escape, and they give me a fit all the time.

I don't trust the gas pump to shut off on it's own. I always stand and squeeze. I did some gas pumping briefly when I was a kid and saw several instances of the automatic shutoff not shutting off.

Well I went to my regular station and pump this time. I put the nozzle 2/3rd of the way in and filled it perfectly fine this time.

I also went for a touchless car wash and found that the blowen air drying at the end doesn't blow enough to clear the car of the water. Do you wipe it off after with a towel or just let the wind to it? I also found out that when the trunklid is wet it drips water into the trunk when opened. Funny how this happens in some cars and not others.

I always wipe the MM down with a chamois or microfiber towel after washing it to prevent waterspots. Then she gets a coat of NXT or ICE or both.

Yeah, water drips off the trunk lip into the trunk after washing it. Not much you can do about it. If I must get something from the trunk while it is wet, I only open it about 12 inches or so and wipe down the lip and the space where it meets the rear bumper shroud. After most of the drips stop, I'll open the trunk and wipe down the drain channels so any collected water doesn't flow down across the bumper and MARAUDER lettering after everything has been cleaned up.

Having the same issue in NJ. I have to get out and play with the nozzle and barley pump the gas. It takes about 4-5 min to fill. This just started happening the last few weeks to me. Never experienced this in the past.

Put the nozzle in and rotate the handle a few degrees from vertical. Sometimes left, sometimes right. That's how I overcome.

I use a waterblade and microfiber towel. I don't much care for touchless car washes, as the soaps they use just kill the wax. Hand wash only for Elvira!

And I use the 'air' function to blow out water from all the cracks - including the trunk deck - first. The mirrors too. The trunk dripping thing is a generic Panther problem, I get it on my CV as well.
