Anyone have instructions on how to mount the Autometer gauge pod on the A pillar.
Do you need to drill holes ?
Where is the sweet spot for mounting ?

I used black silcone adhesive/sealer on the pod putting it about 1 inch around the outside. Then I attached it and wiped off the excess. It worked very well. I also trimmed it up along the edge after trial fitting a pre-drilling the holes so the edges matched up better.

What's the brand name of the black silcone adhesive.

I located mine so that the bottom of the pod was about 1/4" above the dash pad. Drilled 4 holes and used the supplied push-pins for mounting. Painted to match with Ford interior paint. Glad I didn't glue it on, I've pulled it off to work on the wiring once already.

Get some matching vinyl and recover the a-pillar with the pod installed - it'll look stock!

It was the Motorcraft stuff, Merc. The stuff that Trilogy sent with the kit. I mounted mine a bit higher then the others responding did. I was thinking that it might block the little defroster for the side window off the dash.

Just don't lift your left hand fingers off the sterring wheel at 10:00 when you are making an strong left hand turn or you will end up with a big hurt. Ask me how I know. I nearly ripped the whole pod off the pillar. I thought I broke my finger.

Another question, how do you run the wires. Does the piller come off or do you drill a hole and fish the wires down the tube.

The a pillar should come off, not sure how it's attached on the MArauder but on my old car it was one screw and then pull off the apillar which was attached with clips

Pulls off, it has those "grip clips" on it. After prefitting, I drilled 3/4" holes at the base of each gauge area. Oh, and the wireing can run up the side of the dash and right into the a-pillar area. Easily done.

The plastic A pillar cover just pulls off the metal structure will some firm force. Start at the top with both hands and work your way down the pillar. Once the cover is off the bare sheet metal is exposed at the foot of the pillar cover where you will see a rather large hole through the top of the dash. Your wiring goes through this hole.
Good Luck

I plan to add a dual pod to my Merc soon, so I can add a trans temp gauge.
What interior paint should I use? Seems like I read on here that the OEM paint is actually lighter and someone recommended a darker color, either OEM or from another manufacturer.

I will take pictures of the pod and look for the can of Ford Paint I used.

The "A" pillar is attached with clips. Pull the weatherstrip away then pull the "A" pillar towards you. I'd recommend making some large holes or cutting away some of the "A" pillar behind the gauge pod to make repairs easier.

It might also be a good idea to get a "A" Pillar moulding from the wreckers and do all your mods and painting on it, keeping the original in case you want to go back to stock. I think the CV and GM use the same moulding, although I'm not sure for '03 & '04.
