Hey guys...
I was on the way to work and had to get behind a large semi truck that wouldnt slow down... As I slowed down to merge to the right, I guess I was too close, and it ripped off my right side mirror.
It's currently hanging by the wiring, and one of the wires separated from inside the mirror.
What can I expect to pay to get this replaced? Am I able to do this myself if i pick up a used one?
THanks!

Well I found a couple... one on Ebay for $30, and one on thepartsbin.com for $70 - do these usually come with the entire frame?

Yep, that would be my guess too !! ;) I don't quite follow how this actually happened; but if the truck was close enough to hit your mirror, you were WAY TOO close and are darn lucky you didn't lose the side of your MM.

When you order a mirror it will come with a new wire harness. If you haven't already, cut the wires and get that mirror off the car. I see people all the time that let them dangle and it scratches the crap out of the paint on the door & fender.
OEM mirror comes in two parts, the mirror assembly and the cap. The cap will come in primer only and will need to be painted to match.

Try this: www.car-part.com and specify heated mirror. I hope that the "skull cap" is good.

I got one through Partstrain.com, the price was only $71.00 incl shipping and it was black as is my MM.
The unit looks like OEM , but it vibrates while the car is moving. Didn't get the OEM unit because of cost which would have put it around $250.00 incl painting and installation.

Well I think the truck also had something sticking out off the side... it's my fault, I know. ROAD RAGE!

Gotta remove the door panel and possibly a piece that is stuck on to remove 3 11mm nuts.

I had to replace drivers side on mine after some spirited reversing out the garage..
$258 quote from local dealer..
$55 ebay ($35 item, $20 shipping) for the full mirror (generic special chinese made stuff)
getting the cover off the door was trickiest... there's 2 or 3 bolts that hold the cover on, one of them you have to take the window controller out so you can get into the bolt, then plastic clips that hold the cover on after that.. It's a tricky job for one guy, and took two of us the better part of 90 minutes to do it.. I'm a computer guy tho, so my mechanical skills are definitely "mostly harmless" rated..
