28 or 31 spline

Hey guys, I am the proud owner of a Mark VIII and I have a friend who has a marauder with 4.30s and he is about to take them out and give them to me to put 3.73's in his rearend. So my question is does the marauder have a 28 or 31 spline?

The MM's best rear are the 410's------- 373's are a waste--410's are the obtimum......trust me---had 430's in mine--too much--put 410's back in ---31 is the better spline-put those in--Tom

He is about to put a Kenne bell on his MM So he wanted to go down to 3.73s. But he is gonna give me the 4.30s so if they are 28's they will fit in my mark.

The MM came w/ a 28 Spline w/ a 3.55:1 Rear Gear....

The MM rear is an 8.8====if yours is then it will work...........

what marauderman is getting at is that if all you are getting is the ring and pinion, the spline of the carrier is irrelevant. If he is giving you the whole differential, ring and pinion, then yes, it will be right for you. I'm a former modded Mark VIII owner. I had 3.73's. What a waste..4.30's for those cars all the way. check your rear diff cover mount to make sure it still has urethane all the way around the 'V'. if it doesnt find one that does, it will make a ton of noise clunking around with the new gears...

Yep the mark came with an 8.8 IRS.
