Hello, I was washing my car today, then when i was done and i went to move it, it wouldnt start. I did have the radio playing the whole time though. When i engage the key in the ignition, the car clicks and the lights flicker. Sounds like its trying to start but it doesnt. Could the battery be too weak? Or has the starter failed?

Clean and tighten your battery connections.
If it still clicks then you may need to have the battery charged.
Once it is charged, then it can be tested.

I did some research and found some Optima Batteries? They are very pricey! Worth the extra money? I do have some external accessories like an amp and aftermarket radio. Will optima batteries fit?

I say just stick with the Motorcraft. I dont think you're going to see anything extra from a Optima. A higher output alternator would help more with the amp. How many watts is the amp?

Good advice there. ^^^^

When it comes time to replace my battery (OEM still strong and car was built June 2002 and has 39K miles) I will be going with said battery.

i got one of those red-top batterys for my GM, man let me tell you, i had 2 JL audio 10w7's (for all of you that know the power of these speakers) hooked up to 1200 watt JBL amp. and even when my subs "dropped" my voltage never went past 11.9 ( my cd\player has a volt-o-meter thats how i knew)

Consumer reports gives the group 65 Maxx from your local Walmart the highest rating... However, I still get the Motorcraft OEM one with the nice warranty and it is not bright yellow....

Deep cycle batt's (Optima) allow for more cycles without killing the batt. By cycles I mean draining the batt. and re-charging. I have a good deal of accessories on my truck and this type of Batt. is a must have. If you like using the radio with the motor OFF for long periods of time, deep cycle batts is the way to go. Of coarse this is IMHO.
