My guess, Jack, is no. Every damn thing else they sell comes from our friends the Chicoms. Wok oil? I would rather be sure and spend a little more money. spread over 3, 4 or 5 thousand miles depending how often you change synthetic, it just can't be worth it. At least to me. :D Dennis

I've read from several sources that Wal-Mart oil is top notch. No kidding. Supposedly they buy good stock and good additives at really cheap prices (what Wal-Mart is good at).

I switched over to Royal Purple. It's the first time in my entire life I can FEEL a difference with an oil. I'm staying with it!

The manufacturer depends on your location - Walmart uses a few, depends on region.

I would still stick with name brand you know and trust. with walmart you will never be 100% sure who made it.
it isn't worth the risk to save a couple bucks

East of the Mississippi, Walmart oil is XOM. West of the Mississippi, it's Warren Performance Products. In Canada, it's Safety-Kleen.

Good article.

One section deals specifically with Wal-mart oils:

"The oil that Wal-Mart sells under their house name (Super-Tech) is very good quality oil. In many tests done over the last year or so, the 'Super-Tech' oil was superior to many name-brand oils. The oil is supplied to Wal-Mart by Pennzoil/Quaker-State. It uses the same high-quality group II/III base stocks as their name oil, but uses an off-the shelf additive package."

Looks good to me, but I think I'll stick with Mobil 1.

The lowest bidder on any given day.

I would not trust any thing from WalMart, they would need to test 4 times a year before I would consider it.

If you doubt me just go over to their meat department, not fit for human consumption.

Another example is the California Duster, they made a special version only sold at WalMart, less than half the fibers in their non-WalMart version.

My wife shops there under the condition that nothing is bought that goes in our bodies.

I never said I would change to it......Just wondered if anyone knew who made the stuff??

I plan on sticking with Mobil I in the boats and Marauder.....I'm trying Rotella T in my Cobra (no cats).....in the past it has had the most Zinc (anti-wear additive) but I heard they have reduced it recently. :cool4:

I'm trying Rotella T in my Cobra (no cats).....in the past it has had the most Zinc (anti-wear additive) but I heard they have reduced it recently.ZDDP (Zinc Di-alkyl Dithiophosphate) level was reduced for all oils due to the current (SM) formulation requirements. They found the phosphorus *might* be poisoning the cats.

5W-20 Royal Purple for me now.

http://www.americanmuscle.com/royal-purple-5w20-motor-oil.html
$5.99 a quart with free shipping, I bought 24 quarts last month so I'm good for another year of changing oil.
