It seems like they were all out yesterday! I had 2 near crunches. The most serious was on I-5 at speed when brand new Outback doing a lane change on my front without a clue or looking. I had to hit the binders hard to keep her off my blue and thankfully the guy behind me allowed edequate room. I laid on the horn and provided the obligatory digital salute. She moved back over and was putting on lip stick or something when I went by. The other one was as some sort of Kia thing pulled out of a parking space right in front of me on a non busy narrow side street. I had to nearly stop to let her in. This one was oblivious as well. Be careful out there!

at this point it is all about the skill of the body shop you choose.

the skill level varies dramatically from one body shop to the other.

I have good luck using a body shop that has been vetted by Lexus or Infinity.

I do work for a Ford Dealership, and there is a body shop in the back, where, by chance, I spend some time in just shooting the bull with the guys. THe same day I got hit, I had just gotten a few spots on the deck lid painted and cleared.
I am going to have " no Filler " in my car...I want all new sheet metal from Head light to tail light. He even cracked on ot the retainer screws in the grill, so now thats loose.

Assuming you left on a green, how the hell was his light still yellow?

I entered the intersection while the light was green...lights were changing while I was in the middle, making the left. I had two cars behind me, and then on coming traffic was stopping, I then proceeded. I can only guess that he was trying to beat the red light.

If you turned left on Yellow and the car also proceeded on Yellow, then you are at fault. If you waited till the light turned Red to complete your left turn and -then- got hit, the other guy is at fault.

I stated to turn on green, then waited until traffic stopped to proceed...never saw the guy coming. I can only assume that due to everyone else in oncoming was stopped, that the light had infact turned red.

I'm not taking sides, just telling what I was taught. If you cannot confirm the light was red, then you may well be at fault. It's not a pretty lesson to learn and I feel sorry for your loss. Just leave out the word "assumed" when you go to court and report everyone else had stopped and maybe, just maybe you can convince the judge that the other person was acting recklessly trying to run a red light.

Good luck.

John

The last accident I was involved in wasn't settled for more than a year. As the Insurance Co's. were fighting with one-another.

This did not stop the repairs as my Insurance Co. flipped the bill until the case was settled.

You should be able to move forward in getting it repaired.

Providing you have full coverage.

When the MRI first came out insurers were routinely requesting as "proof" of soft tissue dmg before paying.

Guess what most people already have damage to the spine.

The insurers are paying for damaged spines that in most cases were already damaged!

Sorry to hear about 1 of 328, 1of328. Luckily, they built these things to last, and I'm sure you'll be up and running in no time, well, after the stupid insurance companies finish duking it out. As for the air ride, I presume you toggled the switch back and forth? I thought I read somewhere that it would shut down on an impact until manually reactivated. If not the switch, then the fuse? Just a thought..

1of327
05-30-2007, 05:55 AM
I did toggle the switch, but I did not check the fuse. Thanks. I will check that next.
State FArm is suppose to be out today, and Russ...My body man is gonna start the un-bolt. I will be taking pictures, blow, by blow of how it goes. My car selling month is over with anyway. All day yesterday, one new Escape, and a used Explorer were the only things sold. I expect today to be much of the same.

I would recommend not talking to any Allstate Rep. Have your Agent talk to them on your behalf.

This is what you pay for. They will fight to keep from taking the hit.

If Allstate asks you any questions, tell them to call your Agent.

Now, if they hand you a check,...

1. Don't talk to the other guys insurance without a lawyer.

2. Get the police report and witness statements.

3. Talk to your insurance and keep your lawyer appraised of what they say.

4. I don't think you are going to have to change your name here, it doesn't look so bad.

Sorry to hear your car took a hit, but it is true, people in maryland cant drive for crap. Well, alot of people anyways. My grandparents live down there so i know what goes on in MD.

Why does it seem like everybody in MD modifies there car in some way? I see that altima had xenon's and rims, but ive seen alot of different things down there. The good news with that, more to add to the summer fun :D

Good luck with getting your blue fixed, mabey while its apart and all, you can put more mod parts on it.

It seems that after the accident, the air ride has not come on at all. I drove it to work this morning , and even after I picked it upi last nite...the suspension pumps still didn't kick on!? Any thoughts?
While it was still at the dealership, the techs checked it and found nothing wrong, but I feel differently.

My air ride wasn't coming on at all the other day -- I thought something was odd about that, but probably with the temp going from cool to hot overnight, what little air was lost through normal leakage was expanded back up to pressure from the delta Temperature. Find a really heavy friend and make him stand in the trunk w/ the car running and see if the air ride pumps up.

I would try loading the car by having a few friends sit inside and one even in the trunk (leave trunk open if he is a good friend) and turn on the car. If the air bags still don't inflate you may have an issue.

Dude. I just saw this thread and just looked at the accident pictures for the first time. I was absolutely sickened .... not by the damage to the Marauder ... but by the booster seat in your back seat. As the father of two kids (one 6 mo. old and one 7 yr. old), the thought of what could have happened to your child had that :censor:-clown rammed his ricer into the other side with your child in that seat. :shake: Count your blessings.
