Those who have supercharged their Marauders, I have some questions:

1) My friend supercharged his Mustang and the sound of the blower was obnoxious (like a chain saw constantly running under the hood). How noticeable is the noise in the Marauder?

2) What is the impact on gas mileage?

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??

4) Are there any hood clearance issues?

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?

The Trilogy Supercharger (Eaton) is silent until you lean into it, anywhere above 2k RPM. The Vortech & Procharger (Centrifugal) make a whining noise at idle. I think your friend has a Centrifugal setup.

2) What is the impact on gas mileage?
Depends on how heavy your foot is. If you stay out of the boost I don't see why it would go down..

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??
I believe the magic number is to keep it below 430-450 RWHP (Or around that) before the stock internals start taking a crap. Although we have a Michigan member with over 500 RWHP on the stock internals and it is still going.

4) Are there any hood clearance issues?
Nope.

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?
Not that I am aware of...

Depends on the blower. Centrificals whissle and Trilogys whine (Scream :D) when in boost!

2) What is the impact on gas mileage?

Keep your foot out of it, very little. My best MPG was 21mpg while returning from Detroit last year.

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??

Stock bottom end can handle 450 - 500 hp.

4) Are there any hood clearance issues?

Trilogy upper pulley rubs the hood liner. The centrificals intake pipe rubs at the throttle body. 03/04 Cobra swap will require notching the center of the hood brace.

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?

Nope.

Hope that helps. Here we go again.

My Trilogy screams like a banshee when I'm on it sounds like a jet I'm told.Haggis's car whistles.
2) What is the impact on gas mileage?
Well, with 4:10's I still get 23 hwy using cruise control. But I can make that dip down below 15 easily....

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??

It's all in the tune my Man... in the tune. I'm at 395 rwhp and looking for more come August at Lidio's.

4) Are there any hood clearance issues?
The 3.4 pulley left a mark in my hood insulator. That wouldn't be a problem with a centrifical unit. Nor will it be after August.

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?

No. None at all.

Now Go BUY a SUPERCHARGER!

2) What is the impact on gas mileage? Keep foot off gas all the time, and it won't change much. I have had from 10 - 24MPG w/ Boost

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up?? To a point.... 450RWHP seems to be a good number though

4) Are there any hood clearance issues? 1 Pipe rubs the hood liner, no biggie

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter? Nope.

Those who have supercharged their Marauders, I have some questions:

1) My friend supercharged his Mustang and the sound of the blower was obnoxious (like a chain saw constantly running under the hood). How noticeable is the noise in the Marauder?
My procharger whistles at idle, but gets quiet under throttle. The more throttle, the more quiet.
2) What is the impact on gas mileage?
Not much, unless you have a lead foot.
3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??
So far no issues here and I have about 15K miles with the ProCharger.
4) Are there any hood clearance issues?
None that I have seen, and even with the Trillogy, you can swap to better hood insulation fasteners to cure the pulley clearance issue.
5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?
None that I have noticed.

Hope this helps. :)

As BJ points out, for the Trilogy a change of hood liner clips will likely eliminate any pulley rub.
The stock clips allow the hood liner to hang a little loose. Changing to a ribbed shaft style of clip holds the liner firmly against the hood.

There was no rubbing on Bruteforces's hood liner. I don't know if there is now.

Per above & see my sig.

As repsects heat when it's over 80* out and running 20-25mph for 20 minutes a high heat condition. Either turn off a/c or remove the OEM Trans cooler and mount an after market behind the grill, solves problem.

It was caused by the heat exchanger blocking air flow, a/c evap throwing off heat and trans cooler blocking air flow.

So long as your car is kicking C5 & C6 what does it matter what it sounds like?

I don't have to tell you this, but anybody interested in what we have done or are doing; take your time, do your research and homework. People like you and I are not the typical S/C Marauder type guys. Power and horsepower has always been MY thing and obviously yours. It took me two long years and a lot of $$$$$ to get my car where it is today. Not to hi-jack this thread, but anyone looking for a S/C has a great choices today. Each has personal prefences and power demands, whether minor to start or major down the road. Stock engine or built. Take the car and drag race it or not. Beat your personal best ET and keep trying to better it. Both our cars are different with engine components and S/C's, but overall the same in what WE enjoy. When I am home I drive my car every day. That is something I will never give up. I like to call our cars EXTREME MARAUDERS. Not for everyone. But for us and some other guys around here, it is us:up:

1) My friend supercharged his Mustang and the sound of the blower was obnoxious (like a chain saw constantly running under the hood). How noticeable is the noise in the Marauder?
Not really if the windows are up and it is pouring rain outside...

2) What is the impact on gas mileage?
You're worried about gas mileage? I wasn't...

3) Is the stock bottom end strong enough to handle the boost without blowing up??
Nope! Blew three rods right out the sides of the block with 476RWHP... But I fixed that problem with a new motor.

4) Are there any hood clearance issues?
Not any more! LOL! (see picture below...)

5) Heat issues? Any problems with the car running hotter?
None. Runs the same temp as before.

Cheers!

You said your friend's car sounds like a chainsaw? Maybe he has a Cog's setup on it? As for the S/C question, it really is a matter of what you want on your car. Either a roots, or a centri. A roots will make a lot of power down low, which is what most guys want since our cars are so heavy, and the centrifugals like the higher rpm's to make their boost.

I dunno guys, but I have a Vortech from Denis Reinhart. After I did the supercharger install I upped the ante. Before the additional mods were made I would agree that my Marauder took a hare longer to spool up. I then installed a set of 4:10 gears & the full Kooks system , 3000 Presicion Industries torque converter from Denis & the Vortech is now extremely quicker to spool to the power band. I have to FEED the accelerator & not stomp it for a good launch. When the car hooks I'm gone!!. There are so many different combinations we can use it's just mind boggling. Whatever you choose though it must be a dyno tune to prevent the unthinkable. It must be done by a competant tuner or kiss your car & money goodbye. I love the Whistle on coast & as the car accelerates the whistle goes away & the exhaust takes over. PS I have favorites though... Vortech & Trilogy.

I have been hearing this for years. In actual driving the 60' times show no detectable difference.

A well tuned car jumps right up into the power band.

With a super charger couldn't you go the other way and put 3.00 or whatever it is rear end in and still have great (not extreme) acceleration and even better MPG?

Sure you can do what ever you like. But if your in this to save gas your wasting your time. You will drive the car different with a S/C. I find I have to make an effort to "save gas" or watch the MPH on road trips. Just use the cruise control and stay to the right on the highway.

Stay with stock gears if it such a big deal.

It doesn't really effect me that much, I don't drive much. I also don't speed or track/race my car. I do like going from 0 to the speed limit asap. I like the rumbling sounds of the Marauder and I love the vast space and comfort. I have noticed a gap in performance between 20 and 60 mph car makes lots of noise but not much happens. I wouldn't mind a moderate performance increase the lower down the better, say 0-60 in 6 second range.

I just wonder if a full Trilogy setup would be wasted by me?

I am the slow poke on the right driving 47 mph in the 50 mph construction zone on the 70 mph highways being passed by a steady stream of cars going 90.

:) Then again I'm an easy going guy not in a hurry and smiling everytime I step on the gas and the Marauder purrs so nice.

On paper Roots low and Centrif high. In reality there's not enough difference to feel it.

Some Centrif have a better 60' than the Roots and some Roots a better 1/8 mile than the Centrif. They way the car is set up has a bigger impact.
