View Full Version : How do I use this oil filter drain catcher thingy?
Howdy All,
I picked up one of those sorely needed oil drain catcher/diverter thingies at MV4. I tried to use it today with no luck at all and settled for a wad of paper towel under the filter instead...
Does anyone have a photo guide of how to use this thing? I figured it would naturally fit in some obvious way, but after wasting 30 minutes of my time fussing with it, I gave up.
Help!

According to all who have em, they just snap onto the nice hoses and keep everything neat and clean... guess someone will have to upload a pic... I have a new one here if anyone needs it... $15 delivered in the 48.

Indeed.
It just snaps onto the hoses in that area.

I should have installed the piece when I sold it to you. My bad. Here is a pic of mine in place.

I just put mine on yesterday, it clips to one power steering hose, heres the trick, when you mount it, it will be facing the front of the engine, the filter faces the driver side wheel and if you are standing or laying down on the ground in front of the engine it will be facing you as i said two of the clips attach to one power steering hose, the thing has three clips on it one of them is not used, it works great just remember when you take the oil filter off it will come out fast for a few seconds and then stop, no oily mess on any parts underneath your car, no more spraying carb cleaner or any cleaner on powersteering hoses, hope this helps

Is the use of this diverter for oil change time only or can it be left on permanently without it falling/blowing off?

Stays on permanently, even with one clip broken.
