Those looks great and very noise-free for 1000 ISO!

Is that a trait of the Nikon or did you clean them up with post processing? I see it has NR for high iso. I haven't graduated to DSLR just yet but I've been having a blast with a step just below that (Canon S3 IS) - my high iso images are kinda noisy though.

That's awesome! Is that a real dragon fly?

Those shots turned out great! I like the waterfall that was caught in motion, luckily the frog and dragonfly stood still for that exposure time.

Those looks great and very noise-free for 1000 ISO!

The D80, (internals cousin to the high end D200), is relatively noise free at up to ISO 1600.

Wait till the 4th for my next round of fireworks shots.;)

The NR is always off. Tripod mounted, with the Nikor VR lense, noise is not an issue.

I wasn't going to say anything....but yes...the dragon fly is very fake.
It just filled the frame better full. I was unable to crop it.

The only software changes made were 'pro-contrast' changes as the lighting in my pond is currently orange. I need to adjust orange to green for realism.

Thanks for the info! Look forward to some more shots!

My old roommate was very big into Nikon stuff, he had 2 DSLR Nikons. I was always interested in photography but seemed to avoid getting into it (so many other expensive hobbies) but since I finally got a "decent" digicam in my Canon S3 I've been getting more and more intrigued by what's possible with the right equipment.

I'm still new to the S3 but already finding myself thinking "beyond."
