Wow! What a week. 5 days in Dearborn and I saw more unique Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles than in 25 years of car shows. The IMOA (International Mercury Owners Association) was having a national show at the Holiday Inn across the street from the Ford World Headquarters and there were at six new generation Marauders there.
The Ford show itself had many nostalgic Marauders and several new MM's including one owned by Kirk Dillery that was the 82nd produced and supposed to be the first retail Marauder sold. It was delivered a week before mine so I felt pretty fortunate.
The first day of the show I saw a silver MM parked next to a black "63 in front of a 100yrs. display. Anxious for the photo op I walked over to get a picture. About this time an overzealous show worker came running up and yelling at me to get out of the area as it was for the Model T history of Ford tour only(kind of ironic the only way to get a look at a Marauder was to catch up to it in a Model T)! Another D-Plan investor had a new blue MM in the Ford Motor Credit parking lot.
Sean Hyland had an excellent display and I enjoyed speaking w/his associates on the available mods.
In the Future of Ford display was the concept Ford 427(so named for its approx. 427 cu.in. V-10 engine). A beautiful sleek black 4-door sedan. While I don't really like the grill, the niche which this car seemed to fill and the beautiful body lines seem to make it a perfect platform for the next generation Marauder. I also saw a Ford GT(40) developement car cruising the streets of Dearborn in flat black camoflage.
I could go on & on about this trip but I want to keep it short and on the Marauder theme. Suffice it to say I'm proud to own an important piece of Fords 100 years.:D
