Get a performance tune from one of the vendors on here. It's day/night with one.

Your best bet is to browse the forums starting back in the beginning.
There is a ton a good reading that will definately answer your mod inquiries.

However, a basic chip/flash is where to start if you're not willing to research the site.;)

Welcome. :welcome:

Nice to see another young'n like me get a Marauder :)

I'm pretty sure you can order an xcal 2 with the tune and do it urself, from dennis reinhart. Thats what I plan next, when I have some extra cash.

Don't look at them on the net

Contact one of the Vendors here

Innovative Interceptors, Alternative Automotive, or Reinhart Automotive all offer custom tuning solutions that will be more specific to your Marauder.

What he said! The vendors here know these cars inside and out. It's not all abou thorses, either. The tunes will fix that annoying constant shifting at low speeds and make the shifts crisp and firm.

It's only money and you only live once!!

Actually if you plan on modding you should pick up the minor bolt-ons such as a CAI, Pullies, gears, etc. Then get the tune. If you get the tune first and then start adding bolt-ons you'll constantly be having to upgrade your tune to compensate for the new mods.

IMHO these mods are "required" for a stock MM

Go fast stuff (without S/C'ing):

Tune - getting an Xcal from one of the vendors here is your best bet. Although getting your MM dyno tuned is better you have to get someone that knows the MM not just Mustangs.
Underdrive pullys - frees up some HP and allows the engine to spool up faster.
Colder plugs & termostat - makes a small difference but it doesn't cost much either.
4.10 gears - will really wake up your MM.

Handeling stuff:

Upper and Lower rear control arms.
Front & rear Addco sway bars

SS Inserts are good for 2-3 additional HP. Although some owners report gains of up to 5 HP, I don't believe it. ;)

The Tune is more than just an HP increase, it is also the shift points.

20 HP + shift points will make it drive like a different car.

I have seen Dyno tunes 40+ HP.

I have a DR Tune, many are happy w/ Lidio.

W/ tune, 4:10 and UD pullies ran a 14.2, faster than most muscle cars.

FBM pretty much hit it on the head. The gears and tune will make the biggest difference, just got U/D pulleys installed and the motor revs quicker. Depending on how much of the installation you do yourself, the above will cost you 2 grand or less.

FWIW, I went with a Reinhart tune and am very satisfied with it.

My 'upgrade to make it go faster' is a daily 2-step process.
Step 1.) Start Marauder.
Step 2.) 'Upgrade' my right foot to the fan.
Amazingly simple!:)
And welcome to the site!

Yes. In fact if he's thinking about a S/C at all at this point or for the future, he won't need/should probably avoid some of the other mods listed.

My mod suggestions are...

First change your motor oil to a fully synthetic oil.
Use the Motorcraft Oil Filter. It is by far the best.
I am using K&N Oil Filters now but once I run out of them,
I am switching back to Motorcraft.

Second, change your intake to a Cold Air Intake.
There are several mentioned on this site.
They all will perform. It is up to you which looks best for you.

Third, buy a tuner with a new tune for your Marauder.
I bought an Xcal2 from Wes at Innovative Interceptors.
It came programmed with Lidio's Tune for the stock Marauder.
(Alternative Automotive)

Last week, I jumped on the gas to chase down a C6 Vette.
I was only doing 20 mph when I nailed the pedal.
With 74k miles on my Marauder, she actually chirped the tires
on the 1-2 shift on dry ground !

The combination of these three will put a little more oomph in your Marauder.

From here you can add Drivetrain, Suspension, Brakes, Exhaust and/or Induction mods.

My04isnice, you've gotten some very good advice up there^^^ about the types of mods that are available.

My .02 is to call and talk to Wes at Innovative Interceptors, Dennis at Reinhart Automotive and Lidio at Alternative Auto. All are vendors here and all have a great deal of experience with the Panther platform and with the Marauder specifically. They will be able to ask the right questions to guide you to the level of performance you want.
