We had a great turnout despite the morning rain. Thank you (in alphabetical order) to Jeremy, John, Luke, Scott and Todd for showing your cars. And Luke's friend Paul for showing his 2000 Mustang GT. Thanks also to Chuck & Ellis for stopping by. I'm hoping to make this an annual event for us so we'll see you guys next year. Did I forget anyone?

The best part of the day was watching everyone's reaction to John's car and then their reaction when they see his rear tires. John took 2ns place overall. He lost buy one point to a 61 Starliner.

I'll post up some pics later this evening, but feel free to add your own from the show.

We also spotted a DTR driving past the show around 2:00 pm. Anyone here?

Thanks again,
Curt

I will get mine up as soon as i convert them and find a place to host them.. I didnt take as many as I thought I was taking. I got shots of the best cars i saw there, in my head I was shooting cars left and right. I guess not.

It was a good time. Thanks to Curt for organizing it and hosting the festivities at his house after and finding us a nice place to take a group shot.

I think the rain scared all the reds, blues and silvers away :help:

Close, but no cigar. LOL! Those are 18x18x29 M/T tires on 18x16 MM rims.

The "people watching" is the most fun at the car shows though. We just sat acrouss the way in the grassy island and watched people pass through. I'm glad my car brings so much enjoyment to others. That's definitely a bonus to my build.

Cheers!

It was fun seeing everyone's reactions to John's car then watching them squat down trying to see those fat rear tires.

The Starliner got 1st place for my class. The 65 Park Lane with the S55 trim won a 2nd place for the Stock class and left early so they had to mail it.

The Calypso Coral Boss 302 walked away with3 first place trophies and both the People's Choice and the President's Choice.

What ticked me off was that the members of the club that put on the event were allowed to register their vehicles. No less than 50% of the first place trophies went to their club members. I'm not saying they stacked the voting but you can read between the lines.

When my club hosts the shows, we make it a point to let everyone know that club members are not allowed to compete. I guess it's the way we were brought up! (BTW, I voted for the 61 Starliner too!)

John, the show is actually sponsored by the Upper Midwest Shelby Club. I think it was the SVTOA-TC guys you were seeing win. Both groups have red shirts, so it's hard to tell them apart. BUT, Apple Valley Ford is the SVTOA-TC groups home turf. They hold their monthly meetings there and the majority of the members live in the area. For next year I'm hoping for a few more Marauders. Maybe we as a group we can try and swing the vote away from the SVT guys. We know who they are because they parked their cars in a big group in the middle of the show. I wasn't even going to vote until you encouraged me to do so. Not sure if the other Marauder guys voted. Curt

Yes, a few SVTOA-TC guys had a handful of 1sts. No, I'm talking about the guys with the red shirts running it. Those were the ones taking home the gold. It's not sour grapes, otherwise I would have voted for myself! Let's just call it an unprofessional "observation."

I had way more fun sitting and talking with all of you guys anyway! Hey, where's the donut pictures?!?

Oh, and finally, I lost a blue folding chair in the sitting area. I was packing up to leave and looked over to see my black chair. I scurried over, snatched it and put it in the trunk. When I was leaving I noted someone left a blue chair too. I get home and found the bag for it in the trunk! Good thing those are only a couple bucks at WalMart! LOL!

John, I'm sorry, I thought it was the SVT guys. Then that really sucks. Between the Midwest Shelby Club and the local SVT club, not many others have a chance of winning. Oh well, it was a fun day. Curt

Don't be sorry! I was in a class that none of those two clubs were in.
There will be more shows and we still have to do some laps on the parkways. Looking forward to that and maybe a picnic at one of the lakes (preferrably in visual range of the sand volleyball court where the babes play!)

hehehehe!

Yeah, You were in class 2700, I was in 900.. those classes are made up of pretty much every car made since Christ, EXCEPT Mustangs and Cougars. I think thats a much harder class to place in since there is so much competition and excellent cars in there.
