View Full Version : Red Lights on the Interior of Front Doors?
Question: There are 2 red lights in both front doors that never light up, how do they work? Were the bulbs missing from delivery or is there a blown fuse? I can't imagine they were meant to be reflectors, they would not serve a purpose, does anyone else know what I mean?

Supposed to be reflectors. In case you lose power on the highway and open your door others will see you.
Above info supplied by my dealer[I asked the same question],
therefor info has 20-30% chance of being correct:).

Well okay now, let's get busy on this guys.
Who's gonna be the pilot on this project?
Who's on wire harness?
Who's on the light fixture?
Who's on the fit and finish?
Who's on the instructions?
Come on...Move it! Burning daylight here!
^^^What, Mac...and make it light up? Make them flash?
Then the interior will look like Amsterdam

As part of Ford's cost cutting, lighed courtesy lamps once standard on CV's and GM's have recently been replaced by reflectors...... except for the Lincoln models

OK, sorry 'bout that :D
They are just reflectors. Certain models in the past had lights there, but these don't. Doesn't really bother me
I'll do it. Might be done by the chicken meet. I'll definitely be done with my custom badgeless grill. Whoever is coming will also see custom pinstriped taillights and reverse lights, along with 64 fender badges on the overhead console. Cant wait to show off!

i work at a ford dealer. i'll look into whether or not the opening is the same on a town car that's supposed to light up. i can also go back through the years and see if an older model's "reflectors" or lights will fit. to light them your self you can go to napa, big a, autozone or whatever and get a light socket for a 194 bulb. then you'll need to cut a plus sign into the housing, after sliding the socket in your new hole all you'll do is give it a little turn to "lock" it in place. then probably run your wires to tap the footwell light since it runs on the same circuit as the dome lights. the pain will be taking the door apart and feeding the wires and putting the cross in the back of the lamp housing.

That would be cool. Please keep us posted.
