To me, the Marauder needs a hood scoop to set it apart from a Grand Marquis. I don't need it to be functional necessarily. If it would fit the shape of our hood, I see this hood scoop as looking good with the overall design of the Marauder. It might also look good in reverse. What do you think?

Well, to each his own. Personally I think the Marauder looks great bone stock, maybe a moonroof at most. I HATE the look of a marauder with a spoiler, to me it a SPOILer does just that. So I say keep it alone.

I just not a fan of the police interceptor look. I would prefer to give the car a classic musclecar look.

I got ya! In that case, that is the classiest looking scoop I have seen, not too gaudy

You could always get one and set it on the hood to see if it enhances the Marauder. Might be interesting in reverse.

Maybe....But yeah, get it then set it on the hood to check it out first before a glued or screwed down commitment that would cost alot for hood repair.

I like it, but am still wondering why no one has tried a Shaker from an '03-4 Mustang Mach-1. :D

What image is it that you want to protray, to yourself and it others (if it matters).

A functional center hood scoop, raised 2-6 inches, say's I'm powerful.

A non-functional hood scoop say's I'm impotent.

A demure scoop(s) like the stalker say's, I'm dressed for the evening and don't mind running your sorry butt over if you get in my way to the Opera.

In reverse you could put an electronic info display in the hood scoop. I remember seeing something like that at a car show a while back. Would also come in handy if you need clearance for a supercharger.

I love the look of your Merc. Do you have any larger pictures of it with the scoop (looks a lot like the scoop on my Bullitt). I am tempted to do something similar. For me, the car needs something to look different from a Grand Marquis beyond the front fascia and the blacked out grill.

Pat,

At 37, married with two kids, I've lost interest in pleasing others when it comes to my ride. I'm neither impotent, nor do I enjoy opera, nor do I need to flex on anyone. I simply want to go in my garage and have a :censor:-eating grin every time I look at the Merc. I was raised around 60's musclecars, many of them with obnoxious scoops. So, for me, I won't lose much sleep in the image my Merc gives off to others. Part of the fun of being a car enthusiast is making decisions to personalize the car to suit your own tastes. At the car show, some people will turn their nose up and say you've ruined a classic (perfectly within their rights) and others will think that you are original and innovative. Either one is fine with me. Some of my favorite cars that I have owned had non functional scoops (2001 Bullitt GT, 1986 Buick GN, 1968 Mustang GT, 1979 Camaro Z-28, 1984 Avanti, etc.) The rear spoilers weren't really necessary either, but completed the look.

So ... to those who love the clean look of the stock hood, I say kudos to you and I enjoy the clean look of your cars. And for those who want to put on a 1980's style NHRA Pro-Stock scoop with double sided sticky tape ... well ... if it makes you happy ... I say go for it!!

By the way, Pat ... I didn't mean to single out your post. I completely respect your opinion.

I think that would look great, hopefully it does not take of lot of modifications to install.
Personally I think cowl hoods only look good on Chevy's, I also grew up in the muscle car period, and when I see a cowl hood I think Chevy. Hey they started it let'em have it.

It's thread's like these that tell you, "The guy should have just done the mod, then asked for our opinions." Since you said you don't care what others think, just go for it man! I mean look up gdmJoe and his badass cowl hood. No one even knew about it, until he posted pictures.
