I have an option of using my Father-in-Law's tow dolly to haul the Marauder. It's big, and with a 76" space for the wheels, I know it will fit. However, our cars are low, particularly those of us with modified fronts, and lowered rears.

I have an idea...if a bunch of us pile into the truck with the car on, (not my motor obviously), the air ride should adjust.

Is there a fuse I can pull to maintain that new height when we get out?
Thus effectively raising the rear for the tow.

Ford does not recommend out cars be towed, only flat bedded or trailered.

Personally I wouldn't risk a tow dolly on anything. Yes I know tehy're used with MotorHomes all the time

After the rear is up, have one of your friends jump out and turn off the air ride switch in the trunk. This should keep your bags up.

Get a bunch of weight in the trunk, allow it to compensate. Have someone put the car in drive, and the RAS will probably pump up a little more. Once it's done, flip the air suspension manual turn-off switch in the trunk - do not remove the weight or shift out of gear until the switch is flipped.
Then you can put it in park, shut it down and let everyone out. Should be REALLY jacked up afterwards.

Optionally, pull the RAS related fuses as well so there is no chance the EVO/RAS module can open a vent solenoid ;)

Drag it backwards?

Uhh, it would go all over the road? I don't think you can tow it backwards. At least I've never seen one around here get town backwards. I'm sure you can, but it's probably not safe at all.

Holy crap!

Dad only used it 3 times with a Probe (on an RV as mentioned earlier) and both the wheel straps had cuts half way across them.

I think I'll just get the ultra-lite in the morning.
Those things are scary.

hey, did you break a mirror or something ??
your better off with a car trailer anyway. Over 300 miles on a dolly is far, car is much safer on trailer.
Good luck, and safe drive

If you are wanting to raise the rear, why not adjust the rear heigth sensor??? It will take all of 5 minutes to set, and change back.

I've read this before. Why is it not recommended?

Just to close my end of the inquiry...the tow dolly I was eying sat a bit too high on the Vator, and I wanted some more clearance since I had alraedy lowered the rear via the air ride adjustment bars.

I am no longer interest in this idea.

As Mac used to say..."carry on gents..."

I would never do the "get a bunch of people in the car and then cut the air ride switch" thing -- even the best air bag systems do leak down. I would not want to be the one to find out it leaked down enough to damage your car.
