Motorcraft 820S is the only one I use. The K&N ones are good also but are more expensive.

Motorcraft is the only filter IMO. ^^^^
I use the K&N w/o any problems. Yes, a bit more pricey!

Have you relocated your oil filter? If you have and mounted it such that your filter can hang straight down, then you have more options, incl. the big Motorcraft FL-1A. If you haven't reloacted the filter, then stick with the Motorcraft FL-820S. Just my 2 cents worth.

I switched to royal purple and I been using the Motorcraft filter but that was only because the K&N was sold out.
Either one of these are a good choice.

Is it really that better? From what I'm reading so far The XPR Royal Purple seams to better than Mobile 1 ( Which I've been useing for quite some time now). I tryed the reg Royal Purple syn a while back and I didn't like it. The XPR Royal Purple in my case: #1- My Motor seams too be a little quieter. #2- It seams to run a little smoother too. I didn't know yet if it is worth the extra money or not but I wanted to see if their was any difference in my case. #1 & 2 is what I've found so far.

Dont waste your money on the purple stuff. My friend works for Roush Racing and has done tests on all brands of motor oil, MOBILE ONE is hands down the best oil on the market.
Just my 2 cents with some help form Roush

the best oil filter is the amsoil eao-11 it is a synthetic media filter that traps down to 15 microns and is good for one year or 25,000 miles it also flows better than a celluos filter like motorcraft, go to bob is the oil guy website, or you can go to google and type in bitog, as far as motor oil mobil 1 or amsoil is better than royal purple, on the bitog website guys that have had there oil analyzed have gotten reports back from blackstone that there oil was shearing, also royal purple is not a true sysnthetic oil, the only true synthetics are amsoil, mobil 1, and redline, you can find all of this information on the bitog website, my other car is an 83 el camino with 350,000 miles that i have been using synthetic media oil filters since ac delco came out with one in the mid to late 1980s, amsoil came out with there eao filters a few years ago, an oil filter that can trap down to 10 to 15 microns versus 40 microns for a cheap oil filter like motorcraft or fram can cut engine wear by 75% , for even more protection go to filtermag.com and check out their filtermagnet it traps particles down to 1 micron allowing you to run the oil filter longer without it clogging up, any metal flowing through your engine is going to cause wear, I am currently running the amsoil ow-20 full synthetic motor oil it is a group IV motor oil whereas royal purple is a group III motor oil, you can go to amsoil.com and see how royal purple did against amsoil, also go to google and type in synthetic oil life study to see the test between amsoil and mobil 1, I canattest to using synthetic media oil filters as i have never met anyone else who is close to my mileage on a 305 chevy, i drove this car from october 1985 until december 2006 on a regular basis until i got the marauder now i just take it out on weekends or if it is raining, hope this information helps.

Go to Bob is the Oil Guy website, or you can go to google and type in BITOG. As far as motor oil mobil 1 or amsoil is better than royal purple. On the BITOG website, guys that have had their oil analyzed have gotten reports back from Blackstone that their oil was shearing. Also Royal Purple is not a true sysnthetic oil. The only true synthetics are amsoil, mobil 1, and redline. You can find all of this information on the BITOG website.

Take a breath! Sorry, I just had to fix this for anyone wanting to read it. Using periods, capital letters and paragraphs makes it so much easier to read and to understand.

I have read over a dozen reports on Oil Filter mediums.
There was one report that was done by a DIYer about a year ago.
He was interested in what the SURFACE AREA of the filter medium was
in the top rated filters.
Since no one had done this before, he decided to buy one of each and cut them open.
Out of all the filters, the Motorcraft had the greatest surface area
on the filtering medium than any other filter !
How did he determine this ?
He took out the filter medium, unrolled it, and measured it.
Motorcraft was about twice as long as all the other filters.
I am using the K&N HP-2010 filter now with Mobil1.
I am also sending samples to Blackstone Labs.
My reports have determined that I can successfully run
up to 10,000 miles between oil changes using this combination.
I hope that I can run further with the Motorcraft Filter.
