Just ordered the the Stage 1 kit (4:10s, stat, plugs, chip) from Dennis. I actually turned over 1000 miles before modifying the car. It's wrong to fight the urge.

By "ordered" I assume you are not traveling to Dennis' shop and are having someone local do the work?

I am wanting the package too but want to actually GO to FL to have it done. The problem is the earliest I can get away for 4 days would be August sometime.

I know it's probably not as good to have anyone else but Dennis do the installs, but how many of you guys out there have ordered and had them done near home?

Any problems with those who did?

Thanks guys,
-A

I ordered from Dennis and will have my L/M Dealer (in Dallas) do the gearset change. I can handle the rest. I have to admit that the FL road trip has some appeal but not practical for me at this point. I chose the dealer install option after some discussion with Logan on this site. Pretty comfortable with my choice but certainly see your point.

Don't get me wrong - I am by NO means questioning your choice as I am probably looking at the same thing.

Just for me I tend to want to be ultra sure things are being done the way they should be (i.e. by Dennis)

Thanks,

We had one crazed bastage ;) who drove all the way from New Hampshire to have Dennis breathe on his car, so coming from Iowa should not be a problem...

Seriously, if Dennis would just relocate to New England, he would be the ONLY person (besides myself) that would ever touch my car... but doing Stage 1 (other than the gears) is a snap...do the rest now, and see how your free time develops...if you can get Dennis to do the gears, super...if not, there must be SOME place near you that can do a good job...ask some Mustang folks...

I wasn't taking that way at all (Gee, I thought Texans were polite. You Hawkeyes put us to shame. ..). My worries about warranty and quality of work were addressed by Logan. He had it done at my dealer and the results were good. I trust his word- nothing to gain for himself, right? This is also the dealership that hosts the Cougar/Marauder club meetings in Dallas. They seem like real car folks. I wouldn't give anyone the advice "Take it to your dealer. It'll be fine-won't be any problems." Dennis is an impressive individual- I believe if you cut him open, he would bleed Marauder black. This morning he was headed to Atlanta to do some testing and it's just very clear that this is more than a business to him. If it was a viable option- I'd make the trip. If no one comes forward with a glowing review of an Iowa shop- I think I'd wait until August and drive down to FLA. Just my two cents, Mr. Troll...Let's see what the experts have to say....:)

I've often though of hitting the road headed for FLA, but this year, my vacation is dedicated to the Ennis and Hershey runs. I'd go just to hang out with Dennis, have him teach me something about superchargers.

I also opted to have my LM dealer install the 4:10s, they do good work, but the union shop/flat rate scale for a gear change was stiff. In fact, my dealer did all my mods, and when I even things out, I think it was worth it. The gentleman who purchased my #1 MM is getting a car that was well built, it went a long way with him that my mods were properly installed, and I mean no disrespect to anyone here who did their own work. But, it was a point that made him more comfortable in the purchase of a used and modified MM. IMHO...

I am finalizing the D-Day for next week....That is Dennis Day to clarify......He is about 2 hours away from me....the only tough part will be to get up at 5 or so to get there in time by 8:00.....

He said he would even let me clean up the shop and do some sweeping while I was there......what a great guy.....also mentioned something about how he likes his coffee and donuts....;)

What Sarge said.Would love to have Dennis do all my mods, but 1100 miles isn't realistic.Find a nearby dealer, they're out there.
Talked to mine and they said no problem.Might pay a little more, but the peace of mind is worth it.Same can be said for oil changes, everybody complains about dealers grease monkey working on their car,but lets $6.00 hr. quick change guy do it?
Try a dealer, they just might help.Plus IF you have a problem, they are there.
Just my 10 cents.

Actually my stepdad taught shop at a local HS here for 38 years or something - trained two of the boys working at our local dealer (mine, that is). He told me exactly whom to ask for and added "that boy is smart - don't let him fool you. He's the one who should be working on your MM." ;)

Coming from a teacher and guy who knows his ***** I think this dealer will do fine - now I just have to make sure the labor cost doesn't kill me. Well, and they won't be voiding warranties for anything.

Thanks for all the help.

NOT a Hawkeye - UGH! I just live here. I'm from Chicago. I'm a band director and Iowa has good bands so I stayed here, but not forever . . .. :-D

We get a discounted labor rate(-$30) at our L/M dealer for being members of the Cougar/Marauder club. Might be worth looking into if there's a local club.
