It seems when it rains it pours. Just had my pulleys and electric water pump installed, picked up the car, drove about 3 miles, and noticed my temp gauge was up about 3/4 to the red line! stopped, turned around, went back to the shop, gauge past the red line! I showed the guy who did the work, he couldnt understand why it was so high, thinks its a bad therm. We also noticed that we could put your hand on the engine and it felt normal, anyone had any problems with something similar to this? And is the pulley supposed to still turn the water pump? i thought the electric water pump was supposed to be turn on its own?

Did your installer burp the coolant system to get all the air out? That is most likely your problem.

he did burp it, before i took the car the first time and again when a brought it back....it was wierd though, after i went back he burped it, the gauge went down to about midway, i drove around the block, and the gauge jumped up to the red line almost immediately...

Keep burping.

Take the Plug out of the Crossover Tube. Run the car. Keep adding coolant until it will take no more.

thanks for the help. one last thing, is the belt supposed to turn the electric water pump? i thought it being electric was supposed to eliminate the need for the pulleys to turn it?

Electric Water Pumps do not have a belt connected to them ;)

I think the pulley on the electric pump just acts as an idler. It's just there free wheeling and taking up slack. :burnout:

I hope thats the case, cause on my car the belt does spin the pump...

Uhhh..... are you SURE you bought an electric water pump?

What Make / Model is it?

How much did you pay????

The pulley on the electric pump is just an idler. You should be able to fill the coolant by pulling the plug in the crossover tube and just turning on the key so the water pump runs. Fill it up at the plug. Make sure the cap at the coolant reservoir is closed tightly. When it is overflowing, put the plug back in and clean the coolant off the belts & pulleys, then start the car and let it get up to operating temp. Burp the coolant out of the plug again by just loosening the plug a little so that all the air comes out.

and no worrys about an electric component failing ie: pump motor, wiring, relays....

im positive its an electric from Meziere. i think thats how you spell it.
