Like i said in another post, opened up the diff to put in my 4.10's and noticed right away the spider gear was torn up pretty bad so i cleaned out the bottum of the diff and put the cover back on. What diff have you all been putting in?
And will this work?Ford racing app. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Racing-8-8-31-Spline-Open-Differential_W0QQitemZ23013905 2021QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item23 0139052021)

Ford sells a rebuild kit for that that is pretty easy to install...the gears and clutchs prolly cost under $200...otherwise I understand the Eaton unit is pretty stout and nicely put together.

The picture shows a posi diff as evident by the clutch preload S spring, but the description is for an open unit. Weird!?
I would go with a Torsen type unit (aka True-Trac). This will be my next mod when my s/c wear out the factory unit. It's an all gears posi unit. No clutches to wear out the posi effectiveness. :D
