bought the system made 4 the 99-02 cv/gm. the initial pipes with the x over is 2.5" too long. i had to cut the pipes and expand the rear to make a slip fit sleave. ordered 2 more borla stainless accuseal band clamps ($37 shipped) to match the rest of the clamps. next had to buy the 99-02 muffler hangers. these attach at 2 points to each muffler instead of 1 and are hung off the cross member instead of the side rail ($21 each). also need 2 rubber donuts for the tip hangers as the MM tip donuts do not work ($5 each). quality is 1st rate. pipes after the cat are 2.25" all the way thru except for the 2" cross over pipe. oem are 2" into the mufflers and 2" exiting with 2.25" sleave and going back into the tips which again become 2".

well, the borla is DEAD quiet. even quieter than stock. deeper tone, but almost non existant while driving the car. kind of a scary feeling as speed picks up silently. i am pleased. system is very light compared to stock. even the stock tips are heavy at 7 lbs each.

Joe,
Got any pics of the 99-02 exhaust hangers? How about part numbers too. Were the hangers already welded onto the mufflers? Just wondering what would be the best way to hang my new system. BTW, I chose not to go with the Borla system because it has a standard crossover instead of x pipe, and is so expensive. But it is stainless, which is really great.

I've got the Borla...yaaaaaay It is quiet, but I think some headers and hi-flow cats will help me out. I like the sound though, its beefy but not crazy...suttle but still a good cruiser...

Looked at 36 threads. Didn't find any pics or part numbers. Maybe I wasn't looking closely enough.

FordNut, are you getting the Borla? or do you just want the better mounting points for aftermarket mufflers? these brackets won't fit the 03 stock mufflers without modifications.

It's for better mounting for aftermarket Edelbrock mufflers. I'm not going with Borla mainly because it has a conventional crossover instead of x-pipe. Since I'm doing a custom job anyway, I decided to go with 2-1/2". Now all I need to find is the stainless flanges. I guess I'll need some stainless rods to weld onto the mfflers for connecting to the hangers too. Pics of your system would be helpful for estimating dimensions and placement.
