My DBP has 73K on the odometer. While Ice-ing her today I found numerous star-like cracks e.g. crows feet on the roof. I know it's common, and the prior owner had the hood repainted long ago for the same problem. I assume warranty is out of the question (2nd owner, mileage) despite the known defect, so has anyone tried stop-gap measures to prevent further deterioration - short of repainting?

I'm thinking of clear coat touch-up paint to prevent moisture from getting in to cause rust, or perhaps putting a sheet of that 3M invisibra material on it. It is the roof, after all, so you have to be pretty tall to see it. And maybe the 3M seal would prevent it peeling off...

That 3m stuff is really good... got it on my front end. Don't think they make it large enough to have a "one" piece application. If you can get it that big, it will certainly work for your intended purpose. I don't recommend having more than one piece. When you place two pieces together, the line is obvious and annoying. Personally, I would go with a clear coat re-do. To each is own...Good luck - ALOHA

I would seek the advice of a good paint shop.

The only right way to do this is have it repainted. Anything else is going to make a mess. Spray can clear coat is not the way to go.
