And it's 96 degrees, and 100% humidity in South Carolina. It was working yesterday, but now, just warmish air. Any ideas? any known problems? Could it just be the coolant? If so, has anyone refilled his own? Any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks!

Have you check fuses and relays?

No I have not. How do I do that?

Look under the hood and I think the fuse/relay box is on the passenger side.

Is your compressor coming on ?
Chances are you need the gutter guard modification like I did...

are you just saying to replace the ac fuse, and see if that works?

It sounds normal, like everything is coming on correctly. Like the fan and compressor are operating... it's just the air is hot. ARRRHHHGGG

If the comp. and fan are coming on, maybe a refrigerant leak?

I know.. wouldn't I see that? I hate to take it to the dealer, but i may have to.. .
Crap. I guess I could try to refill it myself. Have you ever done that?

I think you might see some oil residue where a possible leak would be
I think your best bet is to bring it in. Is the car still under warranty?

Start you engine.
Turn on the AC to MAX.
Open the hood.
STARE at the compressor.
It is mounted to the bottom of the engine on the passenger side.
If you see it spinning on and off it is working.
If it doesn't spin at all, it is NOT working.
If won't spin for 2 reaons...
1 - Lack of electricity.
2 - Lack of refrigerant.
Both should be serviced by your dealer or a certified refrigration specialist.
Gutter Guard mod...

This protects your condensor from rocks by blocking the opening
in the bottom of your bumper.
No stores will pass through but you will still get air.
I did it after my condensor was replaced.

Don't do this. There is NO reason a 2003-2004 car should have lost refrigerant. If it did, there is a reason, and you need to find out.

So the latest is this: the fan works, the compressor is working, the air is just not that cool. So weird. It's kinda cool, like it's slightly cooler than just the vent. So that tells me its working. But just not very well.

In the interm I shall share the wisdom I have of not having AC in my Mustang for 17 years. And all those visits to Tokyo with 99% humidity and a heat wave.
For the humidity you need to wear cotton. An undershirt and a shirt on top. If both are cotton you should be just fine.
For not having AC in your car, there is a secret. Drive with the windows down is not it! Although it helps.
You need a hard ice pack. The blue liquid kind (mine are blue anyway). You freeze these, a cold deep freeze is better than the top of your fridge but both work. Put it under your drivers seat and keep it there. When you get super hot and the wind doesn't dry and cool you, like at a light or such. Pull the ice pack out from under your seat and apply to your forehead. Keep it there a couple of minutes then put it back under the seat.
There is nothing like the expression on the other drivers face when you are both sweating with the windows rolled down, yeah you both know you don't have ac when his windows are down too. Then while he has that sweat soaked face and that I know you don't have AC either look. You smile and while dry (from the cotton) you look over and pull out the ice pack. It is just priceless.
That deer in the headlights look when he realizes you don't need AC if you have an icepack.

Run an EATC self-test and see if you get codes for a blend door malfunction. Sounds like it may be binding or the actuator is messed up.

Is the compressor rapidly cycling on & off? If so you have low refrigerant. Look at all the connections in the AC system and the condenser. As it's been stated before, since the AC system has oil in it any leak will show up as a dirty oily spot. If the compressor seems to be running normally, it might be that it is too hot & humid for the AC to work properly. The hotter and more humid it is the less effeciently the AC works.

So I filled it with coolant and it's working. It was low, but I can't find a leak. I got the kit from Advanced Auto Parts, and it came with a UV Pen Light, ... I can find no leak, but it took almost a full bottle of coolant. It's working, I just can't figure out how it became low. And yes, it was cycling on and off rapidly.

SHould the test be done with the engine running or not running? Just want to make sure the test is done correctly.

you can do it with engine running or having the key in run position.
