View Full Version : Should I put my boost gauge here?

Alright I got one in the mail from a very generious individual and a place to put on the steering colum, but like him I decided it doesn't look right. So I was thinking of getting rid of both dummy gauges and putting in the boost gauge on the left and a real oil gauge on the right. The reason is I still wanna keep my lighter for the Sirius radio and I don't wanna have anything on the piller to give it away.

Does this seem like a good idea or should I really get a volt gauge and find another place for the boost?

Sounds reasonable to me, or you can do three. I say hardwire the sirius, or use the power outlet in the center console. Or still use only two gauges and install a voltage and tire pressure display in the overhead console like Zack. Congrats Dom, I am sure I will see tons of black lines all over the DePaul streets.

No. Do not put it there. It is too far from your field of view while in boost.

Pointless.

BTW, only the oil pressure gage is a "dummy", the voltmeter works
for real.

^^^what TheDonk said^^^

The Trilogy manual suggests putting it in place of the voltmeter, but I agree w/KillJoy that it's too far out of the field of vision. Put it in either a steering column pod or a pillar pod. If those are really unacceptable, than put it as a third gauge in the console pod and hard-wire the Sirius, or install some other type of connectorised harness to plug it into.

*EDIT*: BTW, congrats on the Procharger, Dom...you'll love it!

I put my my boost guage in the center console. I put the boost on the left, the real oil guage in the center, and the volt guage on the right where the cigarette lighter was.

Does it really matter were you place it? You are only going to watch it for the first couple of weeks. :argue: It like a on/off switch. Unless you are suffering from belt slippage things don't change much.

I agree ^^^^^^

You'll know when you are in boost.

+1 if you need the cig lighter.

I put all three in the center console and deleted the cig lighter. Also the boost gauge is probably more for your passenger than the driver. If you are getting into the boost you better be looking at the road.

Shakes used perfed metal to 'blank' the AC vent left of the radio, painted it black and then put the gauge there. Air still gets around the gauge and it's in perfect view.

If you recessed a similar plate, you could dummy the air vents to conceal it.

Hey Dominick, your car has over 100,000 miles on it.
Have you put any thought towards your Transmission yet?

Boost gauges are the absolute least necessary of all gauges.
If you had to have one gauge staring you in the face, it better be fuel pressure.

Dominick had an issue w/ the "Original" Engine. He got a "new" one off of EBay w/ near 100k on the clock.

Yes it does.
I swapped the engine for him a while back.
His car has more moans and groans the the IC unit of a Hospital.

Thats a damn lie and you know it. I got the engine from a member off this site, not ebay. Yes I have considered the tranny and asked what a replacement is and was told $1,800. It's mostly highways miles anyway and the engine itself has 10,000 miles. The tranny has 111,000 miles and has been well taken care of... lately.

I heard you grafted two Civic engines together, and you have the first 2.2 liter V8!
