I'm in the market for some Kook's headers for my MM and was wondering if anyone out there has had some long delays ( more than 3 wks) in receiving their headers from Kook's. Kook's just started a new batch this past Monday and are giving me a 3 week lead time.....just considering my options (Stainless Works or Kooks) thx everyone....

Personally, I would stay with the Kooks.
They've been making headers for Marauders the longest.
They are also the first to make long tube headers for Marauders.
My exhaust is going to need to be replaced soon.
When it does, it is going to get Kooks - ceramic coated.

Many of us have waited longer, sometimes far longer.
Perhaps you caught them at a good time. I wouldn't wait if so, they WILL sell the batch out quickly.
Great product, my highest HP gain over all I have done.

I purchased the car with Kooks already installed but due to the mild steel construction (not coated) it's starting to rust on the drivers side with a small indication of pin holes....I had several quotes for labour charges ($800-$1000)
for an install, but one garage said that they might have to drop the front suspension to make it easier....is there another alternative? Sorry guy's seem that I'm jumping onto another subject, but I'll take anybody's suggestion at the moment.....

I wasn't aware Stainless rusted?
All KOOKS were Stainless regardless of optional coating.

Stainless will discolor but yeah it should not "rust" through. Post pics of what you are seeing?
The first batch of Kooks headers were NOT Stainless.

Unless the stainless is low grade, the magnet test should tell if they are mild steel or not.

Stainless can, eventually, corrode if cared for poorly. The metal Stains Less. I have seen it before....

Yep. Mild steel. IMO, you have to order back something in SS (304 better than 409) very fast as they look ready to hole through ... Don,t even touch them before having their replacement in hand.
Personnally, I had an in between batch as my Kooks headers were SS and just blued without rust but the X pipe was/is mild crap and look similar to that primary pipes picture after just 2 years. I"m in the process of doing it custom in 2½ SS and rushing it at that... Their headers are great though (in SS); install is easy and they perform flawlessly.
SHHHH Doin' aftermarket pipes, at the price they are selling them, in steel in plainly .... (add your favorite 'off the net' dirty word ...)

Hey... the headers alone ended up at about $1100.00 after coating and shipping charges ( would have been more if Greg at FIT hadn't put the GB together).... I should show them off!
Good thing I can install them myself, too.
These car's ain't cheap to play with.... tell you what.

If you don't want to wait for Kooks check out some mustang boards, like corral. They had a discount/group buy on exhaust parts and one of them was kooks and in a pm they said they knew someone, I think it was in Arizona, that sold the Marauder model of kooks. They might have some in stock. I probably can't go into more detail but just do some research.

Wow. :depress:
I guess I was fortunate. I was in early on the first group buy and mine still look nice. See Zacks "junk in the trunk pic". I got SS apparently.

Ive had those converters in your pic on MY car for over a year now.
They are absolutely pointless and make the exhaust obnoxiously loud.
Its like they took a tube and welded in a piece of screening and called it a catalytic converter.
If you are running these with a straight thru Magnaflow, get ready for the noise.

And with delete tips and mandrel bent pipes it should be a grand exhaust sound!!!
I don't think they are "pointless, though Zack. They do keep me somewhat "legal", as they are OBDlll compliant.

I would contact Kooks and send the photos. Manufacturers make production mistakes, and they should be willing to work with you. Remembering, of course, approach and attitude will go a long way in your negotiations with them.

There is a scretary there who loves to argue.
I think she gets off on it!
Forgot her name though

That's a good idea Mike. The only problem could be that he's not the original purchaser...

I'm not going to argue with Kooks (don't have the patience.....short fuse) I've just ordered them today through Steeda.ca...should see them in 2wks. Since Steeda is installing them I may have them install some Borla's XR-1's to replace my Dynomax mufflers at the same time. Anyone in hear running XR-1's on their MM.

Yeah, I thought about that, Rich; but it never hurts to ask, politely.
I still think they made a manufacturing mistake and may have been willing to make allowances, but it's a moot point anyway, since Mad has made other arrangements, plus admitting to having a short fuse to boot.
It seems, I think, that our fuses seem to grow longer, as we age, and thanks to modern pharmaceuticals, retain rigidity as well. :D
