I've been looking around at other cars on the road and noticed that the Dodge/Chrysler 300, Magnum, Charger vehicles are very popular. I think that if i didnt have my Marauder i would go with a V8 Charger(its a nice lookin car)The thing is i see these cars, usually with a guy my age thinkin hes the sh#t and the man and whatever, and im like the only thing about those cars is, there is toooooo MANY on the road, the Marauder, hardly any. Your lucky to spot a Marauder and if you do you probably honk and wave cause you both know how rare it is...the other thing is the low level chargers/magnums, make the car less desirable. just a thought i wanted to share...

Good call!
If money grew on trees and trees were shorter I'm sure I'd like to say we'd all have a black, silver, dtr, and blue Marauder - BUT, not enough to go around!
Oh and we'd probably also have Lincoln Blackwoods in the stable, another rare one from F/L/M

The thing about Chargers, Magnums, and 300C's is that they range from a puny 2.7l V-8 to all the way to the Hemi motor. And with that huge range there's very minimal styling differences between the two. Perhaps a different color grille and cheaper wheels.
Around here there's tons of V6 models of these cars running around with aftermarket rims, grilles, and exhaust, sometimes it's hard to spot who's got a motor and who doesn't. (Most don't...)
With a Marauder you know from the get-go it's special AND has the proper # of cylinders.

Rare? Yes Marauders are rare. I have been on a road trip from FL to PA to TN to MS and to TX next week. Driven 3K miles so far. Only saw three Marauders on this road trip so far. And they were all from members here I visited along the way. We indeed have awesome cars.

Ill add our Marauders are about the meanest damn looking car ever made in the past 30 years in my opinion. We all know that they arent the fastest, but damn if they dont look the part. Like a big, fast, evil looking bastard.

True about the Marauder. Amasing how such an old tired design holds up ;)
The only thing from Chrysler that interests me might be the upcoming Challenger. We'll see what the new owners bring.

To be fair tho... you COULD say that the Grand Marquis or Crown Vic are the down scale Marauder...
We all know there are significant changes under the skin.. but exterior is pretty similar.

It is pretty amazing how Ford made the Marauder look fresh and imposing, when it shares 80% of its exterior with the dime a dozen CV and GM taxis running around.

It depends where you live, though. On my daily commute (there and back), I see an average of 5 other Marauders. It seems like at least half the Marauders made reside within 50 miles of my house.

I've got a friend that moved from AZ up to Detroit, MI (Border Patrol). He said Detroit is FULL of MMs. Of course when you compare it to my small little AZ town, which surprisingly has 4 MMs in it, it would seem like a lot. I only regularly see 1 of the MMs in my town not counting my own.
That is one of the best things about the black. It looks imposing right out of the box and you know it is different. While the other colors look nice, they look too much like just another GM with nice wheels.

I agree, the black, even in a crown vic is had to come by... I was looking for a cv sport in black the past three times I was trying to get a new car, Just could not find one, and I was a dealer. I have had two cv lx's and traded the last one in for the Marauder that I just stumbled upon

Just this past week I have had watched several people breaking their necks taking a good look at my car while their driving around me. Makes me want to yell at them to pay attention to the road but I enjoy their rubber necking. Yesterday a 4 guys 25-30yr old ranger were driving next to me in a newier dodge ram pickup and it was like they weren't even watching the road, their eyes were glued on me. Even my wife goes "OMG geez, these damn people got a starring problem". I just laugh and smile.
Yes the body is a dime a dozen but with the right styling cues and feature which our car has it can make it look totally different.
I'm going to go make romance with mine right now cause she is looking mighty fine today

I've been dusted by a Magnum, some Chrystler 300s and a few others, even Mustangs. Haven't had the chance to pull along side a Charger at the street light. However, I always look for the R/T or the SRT to know what I'm coming up against. I don't think I can beat those.
Out here in California, I see so many of these cars. They are VEERRY POPULAR. However, I did notice there are very few SRT8s. A good number or R/Ts. The rest, I don't worry about. But I do get envious of the better more powerful cars. They are what I wanted my Marauder to be when I bought it. But I love the look of my Marauder over the others. Would love to own one of the Chargers someday also but my Marauder is here to stay.

The Hemi block has casting problems. They get a LOT of core shift.
The larger displacement 'Hemi' uses the 5.7 block bored over. .30 over I think. For a lot of those blocks, mostly because of this core shift, that's it.
They also use a short piston, with weak tops. The stroker kit for these engines uses an even shorter weaker top piston.
The larger displacement 'Hemi' has to use oil spray for each piston to help prevent piston noise, which will eventually develop anyway, because of these short weak top pistons.

Some (all?) Hemi's have an independent rear suspention, and the half-shafts have a durability problem. I have read they de-tune the shift program to reduce the load on the half-shaft u-joints.
A Marauder is a Grand Marquis with nothing more than a Mustang/Aviator 4V 4.6 engine, a few Police Interceptor and Crown Victoria Sport LX mods. Add the 18" forged wheels, unique facia, some trim, and call it a Marauder.

That's why i traded in a Monte for my MM. Just got tired of seeing one every 5 to 10 minutes plus the torque when jumping on the go pedal.
I had a 72 Charger for about 14 years and loved it. And when i was at the dealers waiting for the paper work to be done on my Marauder, picked up a Car&Driver and there was the new Charger. Almost went and told the manager to stop, but after i thoght about it, in a couple years i'd be in the same situation as with the Monte.
She took the plates off the old and onto the new and i haven't regreted it one bit.
Love this car.

My Marauder is an 03 build and people feel like they "Must" make a comment. This doesn't happen often with 4 yr. old cars.

Just this past week I have had watched several people breaking their necks taking a good look at my car while their driving around me.
This happens to me several times a day and many times by people with much more expansive cars.
Proof our cars are the *****. Today, I parked my car in my girlfriend's assigned parking spot at her condo while she ran inside to grab a few things. Anyway, guess who parks right next to me? Her neighbor with a Brand New Black Charger SRT8.
He gets out of the Charger and starts walking around my Marauder. Maybe he didn't notice that I was inside since I tinted my windows and it wasn't bright out. I get out and he seemed a bit startled. Then, he looks me straight in the eye and says. Nice car. (Remember, this is comment was made by someone who just bought a new Charger SRT8.)
I told him that the 425HP Hemi is something to be proud of and we began stating facts about our cars. I found out that he just bought it earlier this week.
BTW. If you think that the Marauder looks mean and imposing then The SRT8 Charger is the Devil Himself. It looks really badass and has the power to back it up straight out of the box. I say this and I am not even a fan of the Chargers.
My point? Even people with newer, meaner, more modern, and more expansive muscle cars admire ours. The Marauders will only get better with time.

I really enjoy both of my cars, the Black '04 MM I just turned 31K in since 06/30/'04 ,( my daily driver,) and my Midnight Blue Pearl Magnum R/T, ( just turned 8300 miles since 11/30/'05.)
I respect the fact that they are very different cars, but they both give me more grins/mile than any previously owned vehicle over the past 40 years with the sole exception of the '86 Buick Regal T-type we had until '98.
Don't hate the V6 DCX LX drivers, probably all they could afford. I see way more of them with their big shiny 20-22" wheels and mesh grilles, than I see R/Ts or SRT8s and I am in the Los Angeles area. Wanted an SRT8 Magnum, but the cost was way higher than my R/T. I am just glad to have been able to get the two cars we currently own.
Best,
Walela:banana:

The only problem is that no one knows what a Marauder is. (very few of us do). Everyone looks at our cars and just thinks they are Grand Marquis and Crown Victorias with a bit of rice (including the Marauder name on the back).
So when you think you don't see many, look around at the taxis and cop cars. You will see them everywhere.
For many others we drive a taxi with 18 inch wheels a bit more chrome and a funny name on the back if they even see it. Similar to those 300's with bigger wheels and a bit of chrome.

My wife calls my 300A an old man car. So do her friends. I just roll with it. I had a 24 year old gal ask me, isn't that the kind of car I see old people driving really slow? Car guys know what it is. So I bought a car that attracts guys. LOL.

Yet I can drive my MM and like others have said, people go out of their way to look at it.

That is why I have a Marauder and not a Crown Vic, etc. I drove a brand new CV Sport at a dealership and could not get excited about driving such a sedate car (the fact they call it a sport is really funny). It would make a great highway cruiser but I need a lil more than that.

It is like Mustangs. You used to get the 4 cylinder ones and the 5.0L ones. Millions of them exist but they are not equals.
On the otherhand there are plenty of Crown Vics and Grand Marquis out there and most people don't know a Marauder from a taxi.
