After eight years of owning black cars, fighting water spots and hard as heck MN water it finally happened;

With the addition of a new water softener, I had an outside faucet plumbed with hot and cold soft water! This will make car washing easier, more comfortable and extend the home wash season a couple of months :coolman:

The new softener is a fancy-dancy unit that tells how many gallons of water used. For my first was of the MM I used 25 gallons, about the same as a long shower. Water spotting was about 90% less and less Z6 needed on the after wash. I expect less water spotting as soon as all the hot water in the hot water heater gets replaced with the new soft water since the old softner was not working well.

Wow I like it!

I've seen people install a shower valve controlling a hose bib in their garage just for washing the car.

Did you do the plumbing yourself?

Have a home water softer ( can float a nail in my well water ), however, recently bought the following Griot's Garage offering .....

Like the fact that it's portable.

*Spring cleaning results using it. Followed by clay-barring, a coat of Liquid Glass, and finished-off with a coat of paint sealant.
