I believe that MM's come stock with a blackened head light, tail light, and reverse light stock, now if your talking a smoked cover I think that would look sweet but be very dim at night

I like the stock light treatment on these cars. I never "got" the smoked head/tail light cover fad on cars...

Here is my version of the S-55 taillight and reversing light.

Ignore the back rack, it just carries stuff

Jeremy did you use NiteShades? I was going to do that with mine, but BigDogJim said his Auto Body guy can actually block those lines out completely and I was gonna ship my lights up to him.

A couple of us have had ours painted to match the car. Defiant's S/B comes to mind.....

Jeremy,

Nice job, looks like niteshade - subtile, one or two coats with sanding between? Think doing the recessed areas the same would look ok, or too monochromatic? Has anyone tried that?

Grey Marauder lettering decals/inserts?

I believe that MM's come stock with a blackened head light, tail light, and reverse light stock, now if your talking a smoked cover I think that would look sweet but be very dim at night

To clarify:
In the headlights, the non-relective area is black.
In the tail lights, the darkened look is due to no reflective coating inside the lamp.
The reverse lights are the only tinted plastic lens.

Go forward with the knowledge that the tail lights are already 'dim' due to no reflective surface inside.

Several have added 2 lights int he unused cavity in the tail light housing which is for the turn signals in crown vics to make up for s55 treatments and the like.

"Think doing the recessed areas the same would look ok, or too monochromatic? "

Now why in the world would you want to dim a safety item -
brake lights, tail lights and turn signals? The S55 treatment
already cuts down the available light to the rear!
Your life, your family, or your MM's life may depend on it!!!

Some have blackened out their entire Brake Light and or Reverse Light.

IMO, and theirs (in one case at least), it does not look good.

Also IMO, on a Black car, NightShades look best installed as Jermey shows ^^^above^^^.

Also, the "Third Brake Light" Rich mentioned is on my list ;)

I've also seen a black car with totally blacked-out lights (turn signals and brakes could not be seen - except for center brake light, which is pretty crazy) and you are right - it does not look good.

The look Jeremy managed is nice as it is fairly subtle - it would cool if I could find something to experiment on...

Go to any junk yard and pick up a crown vic PI taillight to play with. It is very close to the Marauders.

I like the stock lights, the shades don't do it for me. Just my stock MM w/ the factory wing is all I need for accessories.

I think one of the things that makes the panther look so cool at night is the shape of the stock tail light, illuminated (cop car look). The shades eliminate that shape.

Personally (and, really, it's just a matter of personal taste), I like the painted taillights best on the DTR and second on the Black. However, I think both the Silver Birch and the DBP both look best with the stock tailights. Just my two pennies.

Saw it done on a Chrysler 300 Blk. It made the car look cheap, and you could hardly see the lights in the daylight. Legally they have to be visible for 500ft. I believe.

All of them look great, but like the professor mentioned the effect looks best on the DTR.

Thx for the suggestion BigCars - I may do some testing after vacation; I'll post some pictures if I wind up with anything presentable....
