The 04's were not painted as the 03's were.
Same engine, same material.

Its part of Ford's decontenting process. Save money on the paint. ALOHA
BTW: All are made of same material, none are "plastic".

The Valve covers are NOT painted on the 2004
for the significant weight savings on the engine
and the .005 sec gain on the 1/4 mile...

I have one of the coil cover hold down threads in the cover that is stripped. Not sure how I am going to fix that. I plan on adding the "Powered by FORD" or "Ford Racing" coil covers and oil cap cover at some point, too.

I like the powdercoated ones but Ive always preferred nice polished aluminium to chrome. Ive thought our intake and valve covers polished would look very cool.

They do.
I had my intake polished before I had it chromed. Polished was very nice
but the chrome had more flash.
I went with chrome because I didn't want the upkeep with
polished aluminum.
When I got my Trilogy I talked to Jerry re. a polished blower. He said his
#1 car (i think) had it and you need to re-polish it every couple of years or so. I passed on it for that reason.
