What grade should I buy? The 4:10 is finally going in this saturday. Also during the summer should I buy the 50% anti-freeze and 50% water edition or should I buy 100% anti-freeze? Thanks.

Summer makes no difference in what antifreeze solution to use. It's all spelled out in the owners manual.

If you use straight antifreeze the car will run hotter since straight antifreeze doesn't cool as effeciently as a water/antifreeze mix.

Use synthetic gear lube like Redline and you won't have to use any friction modifier.

Read your owners manual.

Well it's a different gear so I figured different oil and the engine is going to have a major change so I figured that might be different too.

Dom, Ford now recommends Motorcraft 75W140 synthetic for the 8.8" rear end. It doesn't matter what the ratio is. You can't go wrong with OEM here, although Redline gear lube is also very high quality.

For coolant, get Zerex G-05. It's the exact same stuff the factory put in. Mix it 50/50 with distilled water. Buying it already mixed is a waste of money as you're paying full antifreeze price for something that's half water...and you'll need twice as much of it, so you get boned twice.

Thanks Bob, thats just the answer I was looking for, but how many bottles of lube does it take to fill the rear end?.... ummm ya.

3 bottles and there will be some leftover.

Did you read the owners manual yet? Capicities(?) are listed in there also.

2Qts + 4 oz friction modifier in the rear. Auto parts stores will have Mobil 1 full synthetic 75W-140 in stock. That's what I used, instead of the Motorcraft.

I prefer to read here, plus I'm at work right now so I can't walk out to my car. :o

You're right, I'm sorry, 3 bottles (5.5 pints is the official quantity from Ford). Me and my US conversions!

I just did my rearend fluid at 19k, it looked like gray coloring, I used 2 quarts of amsoil severe gear 75w-140 plus the friction modifier, i dont care if you use mobil 1 or redline gear lube, you would be safe to use the friction modifier, anyone who has not changed there gear lube now is a good time to do it as most of the junk that is floating around happens in the first 5k, and anyone who says it takes 3 quarts watch out, mine was filled up to about half an inch below the fill hole because if you put to much you can have problems with it leaking past the axle seals.
