Like the title says, has anyone put a 429/460 engine in a Marauder yet? If it fits in a Fox body with a bolt in kit and headers, it's gotta fit in one of our tanks. Use one of the EFI 460s from a truck as a start...

I pretty sure that it will fit into the Marauder's engine bay with a set of custom motor mounts, but mating it to the 4RW70 transmission will take some engineering.
I don't know of anyone who has done this swap yet...BUT if I have to pull my DOHC out again, I'd REALLY like to drop in a 514 cid with fuel injection!

Oh heck I wouldn't use the Marauder trans. There must be some way to use the 4 spd EOD trans from the EFI 460 in the car. It sounds like enough people are blowing up the stock transmissions with near stock Marauders.

Close-supposedly Roush was putting FI 460's in 1990< Towncars. I've never seen one, but the chassis should be similar for Panthers from 1990<2002. I'd be real surprised if anyone has done any 2003-2007 Panthers, but you never know...

Really? Who's blowing them up? In the past 2 months I can only recall about......3?

3 is too many for me! Esp. since these cars are blowing them up w/ really low miles. No thanks on putting big block V8 power through one of these.

Isn't the 4R75W design based on the AOD/AODE/EOD?

I have no idea, I usually deal with Mopar and GM transmisions. I know I have read on this board that the Marauder stock transmissions are not exactly the most durable things ever, and that supposedly the 04 is a little stronger than the 03 trans. I was just curious who has done this swap.

4R75 evolved from (in reverse order): 4R70, AODE, AOD.
When you say "EOD", not sure which trans you're referring to. E4OD (later 4R100) was the large 4-speed which evolved from the venerable C6.
I don't think that the E4OD trans will fit in the Panther tunnel without some cutting. It has a larger case than the 4R75.

Yeah I meant the E4OD that would be behind an EFI truck 460.

Thanks for the clarification. The 4R100 is huge! I saw one at a trans. shop once, and couldn't believe how big it is. It sure didn't look anything like a C6!

The 4R100 is a beast. Hence they use those in PSD's, and of course, the Lightning.

Question on transmissions - sort of this topic in reverse, really. I've hauled the tranny out of mine in favour of the 6 speed trmec. This leaves me with a spare, mint 4R70. At the same time, I'm restoring a 460 crown vic wagon from 1976. It wa a three speed auto. Any idea if the 4R70 tranny could mate up?

I doubt that it would mate up. Even if you made an adapter, and even if the 4R70 would handle the torque from the big block, you still have the major problem of needing a PCM for the transmission. And of course, there is no stand-alone transmission computer -- you'd probably have try to modify an EEC.

I saw a 69 429 in an earlier box-car panther platform. its an easy fit. never seen a 03-up chassis, but it should be an easy fit. I would be more prone to doing it to a CV or a TC not so much a Marauder.
thanks for reminding me I need to go pick up my 71 460 I got a while back...

What kind of pedals did you use? I know there are next to impossible to put in. Got any pictures?
