Just today I did a hole shot with a nice power brake to get started, I don't normally drive this car very hard but today I was on it, Now I have had many hot rods none of which give me the problem as follows, first I got the tires white smoked then let off the brake white smoked all through first into second and then some before it hooked and went, tranny was in drive. problem is during the 1-2 shift it hit the rev limiter twice before the shift took place, for a supposedly oem built trans I was quite disappointed, Now if I was manually shifting I could see that happening, Now I know this car don't shift on a dime because I have manually shifted her before and it takes some time to shift when u push her up 1 and usually hits limiter than, BUT IN DRIVE, Is there any tranny upgrades out there, Will a tune take care of this?

A tune from one of our fine vendors will make the shifts much crisper and quicker. Less mushy feeling. Under wide open throttle 1-2 will either bark or spin the tires depending on conditions. I kick myself for waiting over a year to get a tune. If you never buy anything else, it's worth the cash just for the transmission shifting improvements over stock.

+1 for a tune, my car will never see the oem tune again unless it goes in for warranty work.

Reinhart Automotive, and Performance Automotive here both have the best tunes available for the Marauders. Each have their own pros and cons. Do a SEARCH. This has been one of the most covered topics, and is contriversal as religion ;)

FWIW that problem you describe has plagued (kinda) all "whale body" panthers. The 98+ panthers all seem to do it on occasion... driving along all happily, mash the gas and BAM you hit rev limiter before shifting. You can easily reproduce it if ya want....

Drive down a 15 degree downhill at 25 mph, then slam the gas for about a half second until it downshifts... then wait till its about to shift back into second and slam the gas again and hold. It'll stay in first and rev all the way up to the limiter and bounce there for a couple of seconds.
