PLASTIC---
not the casing, but the actual "cone" material itself.

They are textile dome material which is good...metal tends to be harsh..Try installing them behind the door panel by the woofer.

I wouldnt really expect them to know what kind fabric.....Depending on the amount of work and skill level you have with fiberglass and bondo really depends on where u place them. Behind the door panel is the easiest, but the sound is also coming out around the knee area. In the sail or pilar would be best IMO.

Dude, really. You gotta stop. Just cuz you mount a tweet behind the stock panel does not mean the sound stage is at your knees. One can mount the tweet at an angle behind the stock grille for one and beyond that, one can use a capacitor to change the phase alignment to the tweeter by 90 degrees, thus lifting the stage.
If someone WANTS to do heavy custom, cool. But it seems every time this subject comes up you're scaring folks by telling them it HAS to be custom to sound right. I promise you, it doesn't.
I'm sure you are good at what you mention, else you wouldn't mention it. However, imagine yourself with a tweeter in hand and never having installed one before. Perhaps never even having taken a door panel off before. Please, keep it simple. If someone wants to go nuts, they'll say so, believe me!
My advise is to use the surface mount option for the tweeters. The black triangle above the front portion of the door panel is ideal. It's easy to tap the existing speaker wire from just inches away and if the tweeter is ever removed it is simple to cover the part in vinyl or replace it. Point the tweeter TOWARD the center of the car for a tight presence or point them toward the windshield for a concert type stage. If the tweeter came with any kind of crossover, point them toward the windshield to regain proper time alignment.
In this case, I'm sure you want to SEE as well as HEAR your investment and this is the basis for my advice.

Simple is always the best. I did mention a few times behind the door panel would still be a good place.

I purchased 2 of the little black plastic triangles from the local Ford dealer for $20 (so that I could return it to stock if I want). Then I surface mounted some Infinity reference to the new triangles. PM me your e-mail address if you want pics.
