I have 60,000 miles on my 04 Marauder. It has a Reinhart tune. When in overdrive, slowing down between 50-40 the car shakes or jerks like the rear wheel is being grabbed. Can this be the rear axle problem we all hear about?

Its possible.

Check to see if gear oil is leaking on the pads from an blown axle seal. One of the signs that the axle bearing has failed. The oil gets on the pads making them grab and release causing a jerk...:burnout:

Although it is possible...I don't think that's your problem. "Soft axle" syndrome afflicts just the first production cars (A's). Having an '04 puts you out of that group of cars. Seeing that this "grabbing" feeling is only at a particular speed (reduction)...
I would look to the trans.for the problem...At the speed you report, the trans would be coming out of O/D, if it has not already. Accumilator? I'm sure Zack can tell you exactly what it is...ALOHA

It happens at higher speeds also. Overdrive starts at 50 MPH. It doesn't kick out of OD till below 40 MPH.

Assuming you don't have gear oil leaking out of the axle tubes...See if this happens when ever the trans shifts gears...Because you mentioned that it happens between 50-40mph (4-3 down shift change), and at higher speeds - Is it down shifting? Torque converter locking up?...How many miles on the trans and T/C? T/C might be going out.
Side note: Did you do any work on the rear brakes...if so, parking brake may be rubbing...ALOHA

That does not sound like the axle problem. I have not heard the soft axles causing any more than noise. Metal from the soft axles can damage the spiders but I still wouldn't expect what you are experiencing?
